That is a bummer, so are any TZ figures getting released now, or everything put on hold?

Alex, I wouldn't speak for BBP! but the release read to me like certain characters currently have licensing issues precluding them from being issued - though other characters/figures are in the works. Specifically I mean the phrase "restricted to certain creatures and monsters going forward." Though Jason's comment above about being excited about the entire line in past-tense makes the status a bit confused, leaving me to wonder as well.
I'm curious about this image though:
I get that head art would be enlarged for sculpting reference, but it would seem to me that concept guides like this would want things in production scale, wouldn't they?
I've never seen it done this way, how does the process work?Last edited by Tothiro; Jul 26, '12, 3:52 AM.Comment

Really bummed about the cancellations....Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

How is it though that some of these figures, like Santa, Maya and the Clown have been solicited/shown at toy shows and conventions and have had pre-orders taken before without getting proper authorization as far as likeness/license? Kinda putting the horse before the cart, no?Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

Yeah but you didn't see CTVT solicitations of Landau, and that were pulled later..I would have thought individual likenesses would be ironed out before you took it to prototype and then trade shows. Sorta get all your ducks in.a row. Unless I'm totally off on how this stuff works...Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

This is such sad news. My TZ figures are getting lonely without new friends.
Would really have loved that Santa and Five Characters set!!
But, as I have stated before. I will be buying any new figures that come out. This is my favorite modern toy line.
Send that Clown prototype my way Jason!!!Comment

I find it real hard to believe that Billy Mumy wouldn't sign off on a Mego of himself. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

The head art on these concepts are for internal reference and licensor approval only. These are not meant for the factory and are not meant to declare the actual size of the final item. More Twilight Zone characters are absolutely in the works. The line will continue as long as there are buyers and more creatures / monsters to make.

Sometimes even within license agreements and studio approvals there are gray zones. We literally have to make prototypes of items, get full approval and take pre-orders on items - revealing our plans to you. But the studio has a right at any time to pull or change items. This is one of those situations.

The specific issue is not with Bill Mumy or any other actor, nor is it with CBS or us. We have a good relationship with the studio and with talent. We can't get into more details beyond what we've said, however.

It does make ya wonder if some of the scale problems with the heads stem from these guides. If they are sent over for the color guide parts they might be looking at the figures, too.
