Well, I for one am glad Pike was made, because big noggin or not...I'm gonna have Kirk, Spock and Gary Mitchell wearing that uniform.

As for the over-sized head, we purposely went larger anticipating shrinkage.
The problem was the factory was also thinking about shrinkage and assumed
we sent them the head at 100%.
This is a problem with dealing with a factory on the other side of the world and
that speaks another language AND it was the first retro cloth they made.
When we got to Universal Monsters, we got the signals straight.Leave a comment:

Yes, I figured he must be referring to some eBay seller and not Amazon where they are $19.99...I was just having fun with him.
But that aside, I still plan to buy two more Pikes for my "WNMHGB" collection...one for Spock and one for the custom Gary Mitchell head I've been holding onto for a long time because I couldn't make the shirt.

After seeing the Star Trek Select Spock prototype at SDCC it's my guess DST wil be focusing thier attention on the new ST Select line. I was hoping that DST would someday release the 7 inch Rand, Chapel and Salt Vampire that got cancelled and also the Retro Cloth Vina and Chapel. I don't know about you guys but I collect several of the Trek lines that have come out through the years and doubt I will take on another with the Select line.Leave a comment:

So Captain Pike retailed for $10.00?
But hey, I helped the cause...I bought one, threw the head away and made a Kirk Custom from "Where No Man Has Gone Before".Last edited by The Bat; Jul 30, '12, 6:32 PM.Leave a comment:

I passed on Pike at half price thanks to that gigantic painted melon. Got the Salt Vampire instead.Leave a comment:

Honestly, I'd only buy it to complete my set, and never at this price.
I don't think he'll ever sell at this price...
Now at the $11 mentioned above, I'd take it.
I love most of the EMCE Treks (very grateful for Sulu, Chekov, Salt Vampire, etc), but the Gorn and Pike are just for completion's sake.Leave a comment:

So the Pike that everyone gnashed their teeth about is selling for TWICE what it retailed for?
I guess that means that, even with the imperfect size of the head, people still want it.
The future of Star Trek retro cloth is in the hands of Diamond Select Toys as it has been since
they first agreed to do these in 2006. I want to make more, but it's their money on the table,
not mine, so they get to call the shots.Leave a comment:

It's a fair point, but I'd give Trek the nod because it's more Mego in design and execution. Universal Monsters are so well done they are in a class by themselves.Leave a comment:

Totally agree!
The addition of China made(not Custom)Checkov & Sulu to the Mego line was a dream come true!
Not to mention Khan, the Gorn, Repro's of the Andorian and Romulan. It doesn't get any better than that!

Repro yes, those were the greatest reproductions. Best remego? I'm holding the next Uni Monsters wave to high expectations!

My thoughts exactly!
I was wondering, instead of combining the two Mirror Mirror figures together (and dropping the female figures), how about selling Kirk with Vina, and Spock with Chapel?
So one hero figure (sure seller) with one female figure (harder sell).
And this way, you get two sets of figures instead of one, and the ladies get a fighting chance.Leave a comment:

That's good thinking. I like that idea a lot and would buy both sets.I was wondering, instead of combining the two Mirror Mirror figures together (and dropping the female figures), how about selling Kirk with Vina, and Spock with Chapel?

I'm with you. Between Trek and PotA, EMCE will always have my gratitude. I couldn't imagine how they could be done better.Leave a comment:
