    RA at GORDMAN's

Stopped at the Gordman's in O'Fallon, MO and found 4 Cheetahs then stopped at the one in Bridgeton, MO and found 3 Cheetahs and 1 Capt Cold. All $14.99. I left them all there for those who need them.

THEN stopped at the Gordman's in Bloomington IL to find 1 each of Shazam, Black Adam and Darkseid for $7.99 each. Snagged all these up.

At $7.99 I would have snagged em up too. I want to open a set up. Very nice!

Landed all of wave 4 and left behind Shazam and Darkseid at Gordman's in Springfield, Mo over the weekend.

It seems strange that these are all going to the discount retailers, because the guys at my local TrU said they absolutely could not keep these figures in stock.
Of all the souls I have encountered his was the most...human.

It seems strange that most of the waves after wave 1 never even made it into most TRUs. It can't be mentioned enough how horrible Mattel's distribution is...even when they have an exclusive retailer!!!

The last RA at my TRU finally hit clearance ($19.99?)...a Lex Luthor from Wave 1 that has been there since the beginning. Ridiculous. They only ever had Waves 1 and 3. One shot of each...no reorders.

It puzzles me because we spoke to the Toy R Us reps at Toy Fair and they
told us that the line was well-received. From what I have been able to
piece together, it sounds like Mattel wanted TRU to really increase the
number of units and TRU declined. Mattel insisted on all or nothing.

Without a major retailer to distribute the product, the line was declared
                  dead.

The kids working at my local TrU were way too young to remember the original megos. One of them told me "you're the 5th person today looking for those! Sorry, but we can't keep them in stock. They're gone about an hour after we put them out. I don't get it...I think they're really ugly, but people are going nuts over them."

Really shocked me to find out the line was dead.

I ****ing hate Mattel so ****ing much. They ruin basically every single line they release.

Not true - they do a great job at Barbie and Hot Wheels - which is where
their money comes from. They could do ONLY those two lines and still
be the number one toy company in the world! I think they deserve a lot
of credit for trying new things.

Now if you want to talk about how decisions are made internally - they
are like every corporation. One executive believes in one project, and
another thinks it's a waste of resource. The staff doing the actual work
want to be associated with hugely sucessful projects in order to move up.

I think Retro Action was a casuality in the war between how retailers now
stock their shelves and what corporations expect to make from those
retailers. We are moving to a more electronic shopping environment and
brick and mortar stores only want quick turnover product.

The Gordman's in Lexington, KY had only Cheetahs for $14.99. I passed, since me and the wife already have one a piece, and Dani has no WW yet to go with her. I'd bought a few for customs at $7.99 a piece.

                          Tuesday Morning had zilch.
