Classic Star Trek Vina and Nurse Chapel Canceled

So, I get an e-mail from AMOK TIME announcing the new Star Trek Retro line
from EMCE/Diamond Select and I'm thinking... JOY!

So I head over to their site, start poking around,
enjoying the news about both 'Mirror Kirk' & 'Spock' as well as all of the other retro releases,
then I stumble across this little announcement that,
according to AMOK TIME, both Vina & Nurse Chapel are being CANCELED
due to, and I quote, "...lack of interest."

You're kidding me, right?

AM I having a hissy fit? Oh, yeah..., I'm definately having one of those.

I realize this won't be a popular opinion here but I agree 100%.

From the moment they announced those two, I thought "peg-warmers".

Mirror Mirror is a safer bet. If they do end up making Vina/Chapel, they'll be one of the few Trek's that I wouldn't buy due to....."lack of interest".

I imagine the lackluster sales of Pike and the Salt Vampire probably played a big role in that decision. I'm sure it was determined that getting too far down the line in secondary characters was proving to be unprofitable for the series. Hence a reworking of the popular leads.

Awwww man,..I wanted both!!! How about a limited edition or store exclusive of them???? Was looking forward to the Chapel.....the Vina Prototype didnt help...unless it was prettier or it was the normal looking Vina...

I think what they should do is offer them again at a later date but put them in with other figures. Like if they take Chapel and put her with say a new version of Dr. McCoy.

Yeah, I think they'd be better served as one half of an assortment rather than one themselves.

CBS gave us such a hard time with Vina's costume that I started to think they
did not want to see it made. It pains me to say it, but lots of retailers have
been offered Rand and Chapel two-packs but no one has the money to go
for it in quantity - and it's not worth it for DST to make a small number.

Diamond has been trying to get some of the larger retailers to take them
as exclusives but no one wants them enough to put their money up.

Very disappointing in my opinion.

I'm on board for multiples of ST:TOS, but I will not be buying Next Gen figures.

There's a few crew that would be great to see, & several aliens that would really round out & complement the line. *sigh*
