Typical Mattel, blame the customers for the cancellation. They initially put out a defective product with little to no quality control and then has next to no distribution with the intended vendor TRU. Yeah, it's the passionate fan base that dropped the ball...makes me ill reading that.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.
If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.
I think there was some optimism and speculation that the line wasn't totally dead, but it looks like it is indeed, unfortunately.
Thank you for the clarification. That really sucks to hear though.
Then again at the rate Mattel shown lack of interest in doing the line right I suppose that the writing was on the wall for the ending of the line to begin with. I am confident that other toy companies will pick up where they left off at some point and time and actually do the figures the justice that they deserve.
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009
This is very frustrating news after high hopes we might get more in 2012. I am also confident that some other company that actually cares will give the DC Universe another line of Re-Megos someday and make it work the way Mattel could have if they had done things right.
I keep writing comments and deleting them. Suffice to say, I will
never give up the fight.
However, Toy Guru has more knowledge about the Mattel internal
attitudes about this line. I would not expect to see anything
announced at Toy Fair from Mattel.
I will say that when we had a meeting in October 2010, Mattel assured
us the line was doing well and went continue for more than 2 years.
Then in December there was a major personnel change at Mattel
and the line was in jeopardy.
Besides the fact that I just plain would have liked to have seen more RAH on the way, I think my greatest disappointment in the line ending now is that we didn't get another unfettered female head sculpt. A Supergirl or Black Canary for example, would have been quite useful for customs, as I really like the Wonder Woman face and hair more than any other female heads I've seen so far.
Despite the obvious flaws in Mattel's attempt at Mego style figures was I am glad for the figures that we do have now. But personally I'm glad to see it over. Would I like more? Sure. Do I want to hear about how horrible the figures are from purists who could solve all their problems by not buying them? No,
In the end I'd rather see the Re-Mego's in the hands of those that understand them, i.e. EMCE via Diamond Select and Bif Bang Pow. Maybe one day the market will shift and kids will show interest in the format. But until then we adult collectors should stand firm behind the aforementioned companies that aren't turning their backs on us, or should I say blaming us for their failure.
kinda disappointing how mattel had a really good thing going but failed to execute! my 7 year old was so disappointed with them and actually preferred the old megos instead! his green lantern couldnt even stand on it's own!
