    Retro Action Figures praise

Mr. Clark you are truly the reigning king o the Mego re-revelution. I have been going through some bad times inacially (many I am sure have) and I have only been able to pick up a figure or two here and there. I have to say I am loving them. I mean the body issue does suck but the heads and the costume and the overall look and feel are quite fun and exciting.

I have gotten Green Arrow, Luthor, Darkseid, Sinestro and Martian Manahunter and hopeully I'll pick up the rest as I can. I I certianly will try.

I love the Venture series as well. I bought Morpheous thus far and he looks great. Brock and Doc Girlriend are on my list.

I am jazzed the Six Million Dollar Man is on tap as well. That's just great news. They always should have been in the Mego world. I wish I was 8 all over again. I can't wait to see them.

I do hope to see the Mattel DC line continue but not sure a petition will grant that. Seems that costs are cut i they sold on Matty. I would suggest they limit the numbers one can buy so more people have a shot at buying them on Matty and not elsewhere (Amazon or Ebay).

I am really happy to see Star Trek the next Generation 8 inch figs. I custom made a bunch of those but have no Uniforms, I will be buying a bunch of them.

really? i haven't seen or read about these. are there photos? when you are out o the loop it's hard to decipher act rom iction. you read so many posts about " what I would like to see". are they really making stng?

that seems to me to have been one that should have been tops on the list.

i loved CTVT Munsters figures. Not sure hwo they sold but seemed a home run. i bought a couple o hermans myself.

i read about six million $ man and battle star galactica. it's all good stuff.

Just click on the link below

Diamond Select makes it so with Star Trek: The Next Generation | Mego Museum

even though they made no mention of my company EMCE Toys,
we are still glad to be working on these characters.

By the way, the figures shown are the first pass we did to
show CBS/Paramount - since then we have made a lot of changes
to Picard's sculpt and the Borg's everything. The revised samples
will be shown at New York Toy Fair in February.

          WOW!!!

          Paul

You are awesome. Piccard looks damned good as is. I would be surprized if these don't take off big. I wasn't a fan of the original series but always enjoyed this show.

Nice start. I hope to see more coming.

          Excellent

Do you have to get approval from the actors on the sculpts?

These look amazing by the way. I'll get the TNG crew for sure.

Sculpt approval is handled by CBS/Paramount. We submit turnarounds to
Diamond Select - they forward it to the CBS contact - who then forwards
                it to the actor's representative.

First. In Hollywood I met an actor (instructor) who has a Mego figure from his show. I mentioned it to him and we had a great laugh. I guess when you say, " I played with you as a child" it garners some reaction. I'll make it short. Basicly it goes to their agent and all they ask is .... "we're getting how much?" That is unless it just doesn't resemble them at all.

How is it CBS has aproval? I thought Trek was a Paramount property?

Anyway. I am surprized that the Retro collection wasn't based more on Bat characters seeing how big Bats is for Mattel. I recall the 80's were largely Superman. You look at how many cheesy projecct they did (Legends of the super Heroes Roast) that you couldn't topuch Supes and then the turn around in the late 80's between Frank Miller's Dark Knight and Tim Burton's Batman where everything became about Batman.

While I don't know the financials I would have to think that Retro figures could continue if they were a Matty Online exclusive. Even as little as one a month? Actually it would be cool to have each month highlight a Hero and his characters.

Either way I am buying one at a time or as allowance permits but I am getting the bug for sure. I would love to see these continue on. There's still a few major characters to cover.

                  Rob.

                  ps. Hey Paul great work!

CBS now owns Paramount - but I know how you feel - we always
associate Star Trek with Paramount, so I always write CBS/Paramount.

The big actors usually have likeness approval in their contracts these
days - since toys are usually inevitable. The smaller actors usually
don't get sign-off, the licensing department does the approving.

I'm curious if Lee Majors had approval on his upcoming Mego-like figure of the SMDM?

Bif Bang Pow makes the deals - they would know the details of
that license. Offhand, I would say that considering Lee Majors
was the star of the show, he may have had likeness approval
at the time of the show - but 30 years later, I don't know if the
contract he signed is still valid.

That is my opinion, not based on any facts or knowledge of
                        Universal Studios policy about SMDM.

I know from checking into it myself some time ago that Majors likeness has been newly added to license.

That is interesting. Wonder why Martin Landau and Barbara Bain didn't give CTVT permission to do Koenig and Dr. Russel figures for the Space 1999 stuff.

Their likeness rights have to be negotiated seperately. It's not that they didn't give persmission, it's just not in the package.
