    Mego BLADE RUNNER

I'm sure I'm not the first to dream of this...

Wave 1: Deckard (with gun) & Rachel
    Wave 2: Roy & Pris
Wave 3: Leon & Zhora (with snake and clear slicker)
Wave 4: Gaff & Tyrell (with owl)

The film's costume designs would really lend themselves well to the ReMego treatment, I think, especially those for Pris.

Good luck-- That license is impossible. The people that own the rights are totally unreasonable. I know someone who tried--

    They'd have to be customs.

This might be the backdoor if they skate the likenesses to as close as possible without getting sued.

Blade Runner is one of my many favorite movies. This question has been asked before here in the forums. Whenever I've seen the title of the post, I always click on it more than once like a sucka! And every time, its the same answer- NO-Due to the license... What a bummer....I'd be totally into getting a set of official Blade Runner Mego styled figures..... maybe i'll try customizing one some day... it can't be too hard..... Just the trench coat (for Deckard) would be the challenge......

It took 30 years just to get an official model kit of the Spinner car and it's made in Japan by a Japanese Co. The Blade Runner people have no interest it seems in any merchandising.

--AND, they're crazy diligent about any non-licensed items being out there. Whenever I'd have anything Blade Runner custom related on ebay, it always got shut down very quickly. Believe me, they're insane... Second only to Sid and Marty Krofft in the non-licensed, bootleg, custom shut down category. God forbid a few of their most die hard fans (that buy all their merchandise and have supported them for 30+ years) make a few bucks selling custom figures of their characters, that they've made millions and millions of dollars on in the 70's--

              just for kicks
who are the difficult copyright folks? Is it the family of Philip Dick?
Is it the authors of the screenplay - Fancher and Peoples? I wouldn't think Ridley Scott would have any say over this, and surely it is not Warner Bros? They definitely know the value of marketing.

Me too, he was rewarded for his efforts with a slammed door. The license holders do not want Blade Runner merchandise to exist. I have no idea as to the why.

Wow. Amazing, in nearly 30 years virtually no-one has been able to make toys based off this film. Then again, who knows? Maybe Sideshow will manage it in 2012... and Emce, in 2022. I'll be 52 then, but I'll still buy them.

I dunno.... I think it'd be MORE weird if they opened the floodgates, given the film AND PK Dick were progenitors of the "corps is bad" cyberpunk movement.

Well I wouldn't call that 'officially license' Blade Runner product. I'm not sure whether you can copyright generic clothes or a head sculpt that wasn't entirely faithful to Ford. That is pretty generic (Although the overall intent is obvious). I would say this is one that got through without being noticed since they didn't use the actual name. Very odd the license holders wouldn't want to merchandise the brand. There are so many outlets to produce quality product, it's frightening to wonder why they wouldn't tap into these talented resources to represent their product proudly.

They didn't get approval. There are any number of high end "Gray Market" 1/6th companies making figures in asia obviously based on popular actors and their cinematic counterparts. Unlicensed and never actually identified by their movies in most cases, but it's obvious who they are.
