Do ReMegos now outnumber original Megos?

With so many different lines of ReMego figures from so many different companies, have Mego inspired figures now outnumbered original Megos in number of licenses and 8" figures produced?

We've gotten and will be getting:

    RA DC
    RA Ghostbusters
    Emce Trek
    Emce Apes
    Twilight Zone
    Flash Gordon (movie)
    Venture Bros.
    Universal Monsters
    Captain Action
    Lost
    Phantom
    Dr. Who
    Buck Rogers
    Dark Shadows
    Flash Gordon
    Presidential Monsters
All the classic TV toys stuff...

    I'm sure I'm forgetting some...

but if you count all the different companies making re-megos, don't you have to count all the different classic mego-like figures on the vintage side??? you know ..... just to be fare.

A buddy of mine and I were discussing this exact topic a couple of weeks ago. If ya count all the different new companies, then you'd have to include all of the Mego like companies at the time that were producing 8" Mego like figures.... I haven't come up with a number for EITHER side yet. If you looked at Mego alone, would you have to count variations separately? For example Removable Cowl Batman and painted cowl Batman would count as 2, not one....etc.... right? But I'm sure there are lots of variations in all the figures they produced throughout their run.....

Sort of reflects how one decides what kind of focus to have in the Mego collecting world. What boundaries to put on "collect 'em all".

Do you include Tomlands? AHI, and in the newer world - how about the fx GAH, or Flattworld uncle Sam and Drac?

If you only pitted Mego corp vs. items that eMCe had a hand in, does that discount the awesome work done by Castaway, Zica, ctvts non mego copies, et al??

              makes sense to me.

save me the trouble of counting ....somebody

                >you'd have to include all of the Mego like companies at the time

Good point, although you could whittle things down from both eras by reducing the pools to figures/companies driectly using the Mego body.... or a certain percentage of the original Mego body design. So.... a lot of the old school 8" Megolike figures (like Tomland) used a blowmolded body that was quite different (and cheaper) from the 8" strung body Mego used.

                >Scott Ian

....which ties in with Dr Who now.... maybe.... 'cos he was providing comments for the recent "Best of the Monsters" feature.
