Pike & Salt Vampire: Number made

On the boxes of figurines Pike & Salt Vampire, there is an indication of cartoon number: xxx of 500.

Since there are 8 figures per box, does this mean that 4000 figures (8 * 500) have been produced (2000 pike & 2000 Salt)?

Let me explain about numbers on packaging. The "of 500" number
refers to a particular shipment, not the total production run.

Amok Time buys Retro Action from Mattel directly, so his cases
have his name on them and a X of XXX numbering so the shipper
knows how many cases he's supposed to be shipping.

Entertainment Earth does the same thing - their cases say X of XXX
too. The only way you will know the entire production run is to ask
the manufacturer - and he guards that data well.

thats interesting doctor,why are the number of figures so secret?,we know the production number of the current bif bang pow releases,why is it that limited figures are known and non limited figures are unknown .makes you wonder how many mego figures were produced,like say batman,how many painted face batmans did mego make?.after all this time does it matter,or doesnt anyone really know. were those records destroyed? that action jackson commercial said 2 1/2 million action jackson figures were sold during a certain time period, where did that imfo come from?,will we ever really know?.and doctor ,does diamond select know how many emce figures ,say kirk & klingon were made ,do you know?,even if you cant say.its kinda interesting.

Doctor, thank you for the information even if it's not what I had hoped for an answer.

I understand that these numbers can be hidden for commercial reasons. But as the various Star Trek sets have been exhausted in the production, it will be good for the community to know the different quantities produced.

Based on an industry article, MEGO was selling 500,000 Batman a year.

Production runs are kept secret mainly to keep your competition from
knowing you have a hit or that you took a bath.

The point of the limited edition is to motivate the customer to "get
'em while they're hot" which has not always worked - depending
on the character.

Toy companies are traditionally tight lipped about mentioning production numbers of an item and sales figures.
