I wish we had a shop like that somewhere here in Louisville. But no such luck. We're stuck with Wal-Marts, Targets and TRUs....

    ::sigh::

Too bad TRU never looked like that.

If the TRU manager were to tell me he could make that selection happen, but the figures would cost me $25 a pop, I'd give him a high five and reach for my wallet. That's one sweet picture, thanks for posting it.

those pegs full of retros do look nice; and from the look of it theres a very good selection to. i think 25 is a very reasonable price when you dont have to pay for shipping. i do agree that toys r us now sucks. when i was a kid it was an incredible place to just daze around in amazement, now its not half what it was (my taste in toys hasnt changed, just the toy industry)

thats because Toys Arn't Us Now sucks! and always will Forever Suck....they rarely have anything worthwhile on the pegs, and if they do,its very limited quanity.Nothing like the 80's anymore :(.....if you want 'good' toys...the internet is the way to go!

I still gotta get a set of Wave 4. It's nice to see them all hanging there though. That's something that never happened at our TRU.

Guys, just a note here - $20.99 is the MSRP for the Retro Figures, but many of the distributors do not sell them for less than $16 even at Wholesale price, unless you order in quantities of 40 or more. I sell the figures in my store for $22.99, just to get back to a 30% margin, and I order in quantities of a dozen or more for each figure. Even at a $25 price point, that gets the dealer's margin back to an industry standard 40%. On the whole, that is not really outrageous.

I think the "deals" people are seeing out there are the vendors who panic and cut prices to (and through) the bone when it doesn't sell out after 60-90 days. My personal opinion is that I am into selling retro Megos for the long haul, and that they are slow, but steady, sellers that I see no reason to devalue.

Rent in New York can't be that cheap either compared to the rest of the country. Not sure it's fair to compare a retailer with this kind of brick and mortar companent and overhead like that to eBay sellers who either do not have that overhead or are collectors perhaps getting rid of their extras or downsizing collections.

Average prices for the rest of their retro offerings are $20 if you buy the set of two twilight zone/ventures/apes/trek/flash&ming.
    Kirk/Klingon Retro Set
    Uhura and Mugatu Retro Set
    Retro Zaius and Zira set
    Retro Cornelius and Soldier
    Flash Gordon/Ming 8in Set of 2
Twilight Zone 8in Ser 1 Set
Twilight Zone 8in Ser 2 Set
    The Monarch and Dean Venture
    Brock Samson Dr Venture
    Retro Capt.Pike & Salt Vampire
    Kirk/Klingon Retro Set

Sinestro and kirk on sale for $11.99 currently...
    WGSH Sinestro
    Scotty/Keeper Retro Set

Other sets on sale for 34.99...

    Monsters
Retro Monsters Ser2 Set of 2 ARRIVE 9/6 GUARANTEED!
Retro Monsters Ser1 Set of 2

    Trek's
    Scotty/Keeper Retro Set

    Sets for $33.99
    Retro STTNG Picard and Borg
    NOTLD S2 Barbra and Karen
    Retro Vina and Nurse Chapel

    Cases of apes WERE $64.99
    POTA Retro Corn. Soldier Case
    POTA Retro Zaius Zira Case

Bottom line, it pays to pre- order from them it seems. Prices go up as they get lower on stock. Alternatively, they go rock bottom if they are overstocked, which seems only the case with Sinestro, Kirk, and Apes cases.

Andorians must be low in stock, set with Spock is $54.99
    STAR TREK THE ORIGINAL SERIES

Spock on the other hand is $17.99
    Spock Retro Cloth Figure

Cases for wave 3 & 2 DC Retros are $89.99
WGSH Series 2 Set of 4
WGSH Series 3 Set of 4

Think they are bad? One of my local shops has a few Retro Action pinned to his wall which is generally reserved for old stuff. Price for those is $35 and up. AT actually sells them for less on Amazon as well.

I always found Amok Time prices fair. I'd rather get stuff from a store than ebay because I can look at the paint job, the stitching, etc, and choose the one I am most happy with.

That attitude is poison. You are perfectly welcome to shop around
for a bargain - if you have the patience - but expecting a small retailer
to match the price of a large national chain is not realistic.
I was referring more to his practice when it comes to Star Wars Collectors than the Retro stuff. Again, I stand by what I said about waiting to get the deals that are out there...especially as the speculators need to start moving the figures they overbought. Should start around the end of this month as Ebay starts to gear up for Christmas. There are around 500 listings in the Action Figure section right now for Retro Action figures...come the end of the month you will start to see the listings increase to about 750 - 1000. More listings usually means more competitive pricing in the auctions.
