What do you think the complete collection of Retro Action figures is worth?

What do you think the collection of Retros is worth?

For fun separate your answers to include...

    - counting just the 4 regular waves?

    - the 4 regular waves plus the Matty exclusives?

And do you think the set...

    - Will go up in value?
    - Stay the same?
    - Decrease?

Seems to me that of the regular waves that Superman is the only "rare" one.

My guess is that these will stay basically the same price. Might have to pay a $10-$20 over the current prices...but I don't think the monetary value will go up significantly.

(The reason behind the question...is really if I need to rush to get an extra figure or two of my favorites...not because I'm actually interested in re-selling.)

I wouldn't sat that Supes was rare. Maybe he didn't keep up with demand, but he was released 2 to a case in wave one, one per case in wave2, and then 1 per case in wave 4.

Bats was also in heavy rotation. Those two fellows are just heavy hitters in the collection game and will always be in demand.

I didn't mean "rare" as much as he seems to be demanding the highest price on the current re-sale market.

Even worth more than Bats, which we are know, was Megos most popular figure.

What do you think these sets are worth now and in the future?

right now I would say Supes and Bats are topping the regular release list, but can still be found for 25 or so. So, a little up from the original retail. WW may follow suit. Wave 4 seems to be holding steady at just below retail - probably due to scarcity in store. The rest of them @ 10 a pop. The mattys might be holding out at their retail. Green Arrow is doing fine, and if it is an indicator of what may happen when supply starts to dry up on this line in the next year or so, then folks with a complete carded collection can smile.

Truthfully tho, I am not concerned about the short or long term for these figures. They are worth the world to me 'cos I get to open them up with my son and daughter and then play.
        Awesome.
        wish there were more.

Where can you get them at $10 a pop.

(And just to reiterate...I'm not speculating because this is an investment...my kids played with all of them...and most are worse for wear....just trying to determine what makes the most financial sense in terms of picking up more now...or waiting.)

Right now going through most sights....can get each wave for about $80-100 each.

Getting them at $10 a pop would be great.

just did a quick and dirty Amazon hunt and came up with Cheetah, Aman, Cap Cold, Manta all for 11 or 12 bucks.

I am sure if one did some thrifty shopping they could find more.

edit: another quick and dirty search on ebay showed realized sales of Sinestro, and Lex around six bucks. Along with some 2face and aquaman around 10.

That is a bit misleading...Cheetah is $11 plus $6.25 for shipping

Captain Cold is $12.35 plus $6.25 for shipping.

Or if you buy them with a store with Amazon fullfillment...they are $15.95 for Cheetah and $15.99 for Captain Cold

And if you factor that in with the more expensive figures in each line...still comes out to $80-$100 per wave.

Also...the central question remains...what do you think the total for the complete collection is (regulars and exclusives)...now and in the future.

I'm not counting shipping. The same way I don't count how much gas it would cost to drive around forever trying to find these dudes in the stores.

I also said with some thrifty shopping. i.e. finding a seller who has more than one figure you want or buying multiples to bring the per figure shipping cost down. On Amazon, you can also hunt for the folks that offer free shipping with a 25$ purchase.

If you want to speculate - I am gonna guess that the online retailers that have Retros in stock will start to liquidate them in the next couple of quarters. I just picked up a case of yellow Sinestros for less than retail from a seller who was doing just that. with shipping.

Even if you are getting a set of four figures for 80, you are averaging out at 20 a figure. Or 22-23 with shipping. But you would have paid that in sales tax, time, and gas at a retail store.

So, that's interesting...you think that in the near future...as online retailers want to make shelf space...prices will actually drop a bit...

                    I hadn't considered that.

                    Interesting.

I think eventually over time it's going to be Wonder Woman that folks will be seeking... Just based on a hunch that she has crossover appeal to a doll market that isn't quite aware of her quite yet given her action figure marketing in the boys aisle.

Rooted hair and removable outfit makes her open to doll collectors potentially.

I think it's very hard to gauge demand. As a rule, if you can find them below shelf price, I would get them now. I would research individual prices versus complete sets on auctions and see which offers you the better savings. From what I have seen, it seems to be better to buy them individually, because most of them pop up for super cheap prices quite frequently.

i think Wonder Woman might be the hardest to find in the bunch and might in the future be worth a tad more...

Think you all might be right about Wonder Woman having cross-over appeal to those doll collectors who haven't yet learned about the Retro figures.

And good suggestion to try to pick up individually as opposed to waves at this point.
