    Planet of the Apes

So, I just came home from a great new Planet of the Apes movie. Can someone tell me what it takes to get more Apes megos? They were always my favorites.....

They are some of my very favorite Megos also. Would love to get repros of the remaining six to complete the original Mego set especially the two generals and new additions to the line like Taylor, Nova, Caesar, Armando and Aldo. The problem seems to be that 20th has a tight reign on the license and are very specific about what characters can and can't be made.

Couldnt someone just really make kinda similar bootleg ape soldiers?

Maybe ape men concept like zombies is not a copyright issue?

I read somewhere that sales of the Emce Cornelius, Zira, Zaius, and the Gorilla Soldier were not what they needed to be to keep the line going. That's too bad, if true. I would've loved to see Ursus and Urko.

Seeing those characters from EMCE would be incredible! Alas...

How about an Astro Ape line. That would be some good fun!

Something along the lines of the AHI "Action Apemen" (but better looking)?

going to see the new film, would be awesome for emce to restart their planet of the apes line,or perhaps bif bang pow will produce some apes someday picking up where emce left off, just think of the cool figures they could do,would sell better then lost, twilight zone etc.whether its emce or bif bang pow they would be nice, their both very good producers of retro megos .

Maybe now there's enough interest to bring them back, being that PotA is currently a bit hotter than it was three years ago. I'd also like to see a bit more correct Urko, sort of like what was done with the Gorn figure. A darker costume and actual gorilla coloration would be nice.

Yeah, that's what I've always wanted to see, too.

If someone were to get the license for Beneath POTA (which might be cheaper than POTA) they could get all the characters from the original film and URSUS.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

I would think the license would be the same price for PLANET or BENEATH, etc. since I'm sure they all fall under the PLANET OF THE APES trademark/copyright...

                          What about the new movie?

A Caesar / James Franco guy set?

I think at this point it's a mistake to not make a new Caesar or the Roddy one.

                              I'll say it again

The truth about POTA is this - Fox gave Diamond the POTA license in 2008.
When submitting, we find out the license was only for the 1968 movie.
Diamond was annoyed, decided to only release 4 main apes and see
how sales looked. Retailer interest was very low and the line was
                              dropped.

I own the tooling and would love to make new POTA - but it has to
be financially prudent. I have lost enough money on those damned
                              dirty apes.
