    Dr. Mego Original Figures

Is there a listing or guide to original figures Dr. Mego was selling a few years back? My memory is bad but I think there was a line of Greek/Roman Gods, business men and others?

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see anything in the Gallery Section.

7thsttoys.com doesn't exist anymore, but the internet archive had a cache. I believe the good doctor still sell most of the parts, so they would be pretty easy to re-create.

    Here are the Planet Gods:

Jupiter is the king of the gods. He wields the power of lightning and thunder. The youngest of three brothers, Jupiter won the throne by defeating his father Saturn - the leader of the Titans.

Mercury is the god of speed. He can run at speeds of over 300 miles an hour. Along with his sister Venus, Mercury spends much of his time on Earth in defiance of Jupiter's edict.

Mars is the god of war. As the estranged son of Neptune, he plots against Jupiter to seize the throne of Olympus for himself. Towards this end, he seeks powerful allies that will help him achieve his goal.

Pluto is the god of the dead. Jupiter's oldest brother, he resents his brother's power and position, while Pluto is condemned to spend his entire existence in the sunless lands.

God of the sun and medicine and the arts. Apollo blazes across the sky each day in his chariot.

Apollo is obviously the Greatest... Um. Err. *mumble* Hero. Believe it or not, he also walks on air. To his disbelief, he never thought he'd feel so free (-ee-ee)

Those aren't the really good ones, though. I prefer the original superhero collection. Citizen Soldier...okay, I forget the rest. But I thought they were pretty cool.

Dr. Mego (Paul Clarke) is the guy who I accidentally stumbled upon years ago and I was stunned to find he had replacement parts for all of my Mego dolls. This was before Dc and Marvel got a hair up their *** and asked him to take their stuff off his site.
Then my daughter (who read comics because of me) became curious and saw all of his customs for sale and begged me to snatch her up stuff like a Dr. Doom, Hawkman, Flash, Green Lantern and the list goes on.
I must have probably given Mr. Clarke at least a grand in money during this process. Most kids want what is in toys stores but my daughter grew up with my Mego and Mego-like heroes all around. When she saw the various other custom and Mego-like figures she went literally crazy and wanted to have them in the collection.

This obsession would later lead to me learning how to make my own figures by coming here and reading tutorials and years of experience.
though Dr. Mego does not to any of thee above anymore he is responsible for getting the engine started for me.
My daughter? She has grown up quite a bit but she makes her own customs and fixes figures here now.
More custom Mego madness on Facebook right here...

What really burns me up is that Dc and Marvel did not do anything to recreate the kind of cool stuff that the great Doc was able to achieve.

Yet, They will not do anything with it even know it will sell and they apparently do not want anyone else to either. That really sucks! It really makes me think twice about buying into the larger companies.
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009

This is the American Defender action figure created in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attack. Hundreds of these figures were sold on ebay with the proceeds going to the Red Cross. Half of the price of this figure will be donated to the Red Cross to continue aiding them in the invaluable work they do - everyday - everywhere.
