Best way to remove a Retro-Action head?

Is there a tutorial on getting the heads off of these?

I did the aquarium tube fix on my first series RA heroes. Worked well but the emblem on my Sups cracked to heck when I took the suit off. So I decided to customize Sups by putting his head on a Mego body and putting a repro emblem on his suit.

Also is there a way to put the RA hands or lower arms on Mego bodies so he will match better on display with the other RA heroes?
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I couldn't find one other step-by-step tutorial that I remember seeing in the past, but this one is helpful:

Just remember to use hot water and make sure the retro head is soft and then, for starters, push the retro head onto a shoulder to work around the neck. The most difficult thing is the neck post that inserts inside the retro head and then dealing with the glue. Take your time.

I had a pretty easy time taking my Superman head off with the old boil and pop method. Dunking that head in boiling water for a few seconds really softens the plastic and makes it pretty easy to pop right off.

Werewolf- are you trying only to remove the Superman head, or you attempting head removal with other Matter Retro Action as well? I just boiled and poped on my Aquaman, Black Manta, Shazam and Black Atom. Hands and feet worked perfect, as did the head on Aquaman, Shazam and Black Atom. I am scared, however, to attempt head removal on Black Manta. I'm in the process of using the "fixed Mattel bodies on ALL my retro figures, so I'm wondering if you or anyone else has tried head removal on Black Manta?

Just Superman. Wouldn't have even done it except for the emblem cracking so badly. The boil and pop worked well. Only had to use a very small flat end screwdriver to help me work out the last of the plug.

Somehow I hit it lucky with my Batman and he has the corrected body. Didn't think the any of the series 2 figures had them. None of my other figures from series 2 do.

Sounds like you did get lucky with your Batman. Mine had the un-repaired body, but now, thanks to the boil-n-pop, Batman has the repaired body. Even though I'm changing them out, it's kinda cool to kinda "keep them all original" by NOT using any other parts. I have plenty of Castaway and Dr. Mego parts that would make these nicer, but again- originality. I'm still on the fence about swapping out Manta's head, cause I'm not sure if the plug is the same as the other heads, AND I don't know that they offered Manta's all black body with the repaired stringing.... I don't wanna put Manta's cool shaped head on any other body than the color it came with...Maybe I'll try restringing. Has anybody tried removing Manta's head?

Oh- I used a pair of needle-nosed pliers to remove that post that is left over inside the body AFTER the head is removed. They work great...

galaxyexplorer42, re: Black Manta refer to this thread:

Just be careful to work around the neck and you should be all right. I didn't have any problems.

Also, I mailed out a small package to you this afternoon with T1 parts.

                Best,
                Jacob
