I'm planning on getting a Kyle figure to complete the collection, and also to support the work Doc and EMCE put into the line.

    speaking of numbers, tho

Seeing as there are reportedly very few of the stragglers on the pegs at TRU. AND noting how many are on trading sites like ebay. AND noting what sort of availability (and discounts) there are for options like Amazon. It does not seem like there is that much stock of the entire run floating around.

I am guessing this is part of Mattels rejection of the line. The order numbers are just not all that big on this product for their business model. So that might indicate there either were not very many of these made in the first place, or that there is an enormous stockpile of them in a warehouse somewhere.

Is the 340 number from the count thread thingy from a while back. Not sure that that is totally applicable.

I would hope that sales for Kyle (or any of the exclusives) would be much more than that. I know toy companies don't like to discuss numbers, but they surely must have a 'print run' over a thousand for their figures.

Actually Scott "Toy Guru" Neitlich said in the 3pm Mattel-DCU panel that
the future of RA depends on how well Kyle Gayner sells - and Kyle will
go on sale on August 15th.

You know I love you guys, but if only 340 Green Arrows were bought
by the members here - it will take more than us to make Kyle a sucess.

If the wider DCU fan base is not on board as well - I don't hold out much
hope for the continuation of this line. I hope I am proven wrong.

Retro Action DC by Mattel is dead post-Kyle.

Hopefully, someone else will be able to acquire the line...

Exactly, that is called speculation. I always laugh when I see people argue with speculation by saying something like, "Mattel ended the line, there will be no new figures." We just don't know that yet, all we really know is that they said there will be no new figures after 2011 and even that could change in one way or another. Speculation is good, its a element of wonder and a sign of humility.

I mean right here we have people saying that Mattel will not produce any more, and Dr Mego himself saying "when we know for certain that Mattel is not going to produce more.." If the guys involved are not certain, then I know for a fact nobody else knows for certain.
I know nothing. I am merely speculating that the silence from Doc and others could possibly mean something. It could mean that they signed a propriatary contract that states the they could never say ANYTHING about their involvement with Mattell, although Doc just said when everything is done he would speak more to the subject. That essentially throws out my theory above. Evidently, they are allowed to say something when the line is dead.

Knowing that, and having come direct from the source, leads me to believe that something could possibly be afoot, otherwise I think the principles would have spoken up already

With what Paul said, when we do finally get the inside scoop, it will mean the line is dead, gone, fini, never to rise again.

His silence, as I stated in my other post, indicates that maybe there is at least something going on. What that is, who know?

I hope it's the last figures Paul alluded to and getting to us in one manner or another

I totally agree. As much as I can bad mouth Mattel for the RA line, they did make improvements and hit a couple of the figures dead on. Especially towards the end. I say the influence of the good Dr. made that happen. Perhaps the DM Jedi mind trick would work. "This is not the line you want to discontinue....That is not the body you want to send to production...." It could work.

Since Mattel left some room for interpretation, as it applies to the remainder of 2011, I think a lot of us are just hopeful Paul will be able to squeeze out a few more figures. I have come to learn NEVER to underestimate Paul's ability to make miracles happen. This very line is a demonstration of that feat... and a tribute to his dedication and undying love of the eight inch format. My fingers and toes remain crossed.

Exactly. What if Mego had treated the WGSH the way Mattel has handled Retro Action? Sloppy retail distribution (with only one retailer!!!) and no commercials. I'm sure Dr Mego is pointing that out to them.

Hey Doc, how many units does Mattell have to sell to make it worth their while? Would they consider doing a pre-sell on Matty or somewhere else to gauge interest in individual figures?

    Just curious
