    Bustin' makes me feel...

    Well, pretty good actually.

I'm a big fan of the Ghostbusters movies and Real Ghostbusters cartoon and I think these turned out fantastic and really don't get enough appreciation. I think the sculpts are pretty much spot on right down to Egon's glasses. The jump suits are also well done and I dig all the accessories.

And as an added bonus I finally have a set of Ghostbusters inscale with my huge Trendmasters Slimer.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Nice to see the Retro Action Ghostbusters getting some respect.

I had hoped that this line was going to be the big draw for the
20somethings since Playmates had this line for many years in
          the 80's.

Actually, it was Kenner in the 80s.

But I love the RA ghostbusters. The outfits and sculpts are excellent. They are the best looking toys based on that show, ever. Even the Kenner figures don't compare, in regards to likeness.
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

These are nice figures and the accessories are great but the Mego format I think is the issue. There's a big market for RGB stuff, but just not sure about in this style.

The lack of ghosts is a real issue with all of the Mattel GB lines. I think a Sam Hain could have worked well in Wave 2 though and might have gotten interest up. Too bad.

Ultimately I think advertising is everything here. If you asked your average kid or 20 somethings about this line, they would not know of it's existence. As far as I know, none of the Retro Action lines have ever received advertising that would push product outside of your standard collector circles. I think that, beyond all other factors, is why none of these lines have jumped into mainstream audiences today. There is just no awareness. Personally I think there were people inside Mattel that never got behind this project. Why resurrect an old figure line based on a major comic license and not budget advertising for it? My gut tells me someone inside Mattel owed Marty Abrams a favor and that's why the superhero line was created...but with limited backing. I think the same can be said for Ghostbusters as well. You know it's interesting that out of all the research that went into recreating the Mego "experience" Mattel never gave Paul and Joe one of it's best memories - the commercials. Megos' would have been cut short without them too.

I gotta add my 2c on the cool factor of this line. I am a GB movie fan, but never really watched the cartoon or got into the Kenner figures.

But, I am a fan of well made Megolikes and these are pretty darn cool. My only complaint is in the design for the elastic on the legs. But that has been discussed quite thoroughly in other threads.

The head sculpts are great. The accessories are completely nutty. and the jumpers are very cool and well made. Glad to have a set in my house thanks to Kerowak

looking forward to the finale with Janine and the pumkin headed villain - oh and SLIMER

Winston and Egon are actually my favorites, but Winston is pretty hard to find! He's probably one per case, right? I think scalpers are having fun with that.

I wish this line could have kept going, but I think it would be tough at this point, now that we have all 4 busters, Janine and everyone's favorite villain.

I would have liked to see this line work more like the Star Trek line where we could get one buster partnered with some monster/ghost inspired by the old Kenner line. Like Egon/Frankenstein, Peter/Dracula, Winston/Mummy, Ray/Wolfman. This would have provided for some variety, elongated the line, at least into 2 waves, and given us something for our RA's to bust!

Alas, 'twas not meant to be. I look forward to rounding off the set with that awesome 2-pack.
