Comic Action too
I also recall going nutty buying the Comic Action line. They were behind the glass at some shop and I kept returning.
Do folks feel that the new smaller DC characters are a decent mego-return for those?
So basically I get the feeling Superman was continually made in the 70's and now is basically just another figure in a wave etc.Comment

your vivid memories are causing some of mine to resurface.
i recall visiting my grandparents in st louis in maybe 84 or 85. i talked my dad into letting me run into the children's palace store, and there was a whole feature aisle full of mego clearance items. spiderman, mr fantastic, hulk and superman are the only ones i remember seeing. all carded. $1 each. and easily hundreds of each. man, i wish i'd picked up a few of each.
but my biggest kicking-myself, if-only-i'd-known-then-what-i-know-now memory... my family visited relatives in california on summer. i can't even guess what year it would have been. we went to some theme park or zoo... it may have been sea world. the gift shop had a HUGE stack of the boxed aquaman vs great white shark set. i loved my mego aquaman, so i was pretty fascinated with the set. but i remember thinking the shark looked cheesy, and i already had an aquaman. so i went with some kind of voltron-ish robot toy instead.

even worse: Korvettes in Massapequa NY went out of business, and they had tons of aquaman vs GWS for like $3 also wayne foundations piled to the hilt near the escalators, and micronauts, and Pulsars too. they had Mego instores often, in fact if you look on the Plaid Stallions site, that's me with the Acroyer and spider man. there were tons of megos there always.Comment
