Thanks Wrathdemon. Sometimes I swear I'm the only one that would like to buy a toy to play with.

I have been thinking that the Castaway Bodies might be good to swap the heroes onto because they have the swivel biceps and are a bit beefier. I really DON'T want to try this but I might.

They also have Grippy Hands like GI Joe Kung Fu Grip which is/was AWESOME if I understand correctly.

But there are MANY threads here about them not returning email, not shipping etc and I hesitate to try them out. Not to mention, I hesitate to start down the customizing path myself...

So I should ask since you swapped the first wave onto Doc bodies if you tried the castaway bodies. Have you tried their grip hands? If I swap one out I'd like to try the swivel biceps and grip hands if the colors match up.

I'm confident Docs parts and service are great but I would like the swivel and the grip. I see from Dave that the swivel is coming. Can you tell me anything about the grip hands and why everyone doesn't have them? It would have, I would think, solved/averted the Trek problem where they can't hold the Phaser for example.

OK I found their site again at All custom Hands and I have to wonder if these are specifically "gun grip" hands and not like Kung-Fu Grip. I'll ask them. I bet they are just made to grip the gun and that is why they have not taken off as I'd expect.

Dave can you tell me if the LJN swivel is what the Castaway guys tried to do and/or if you think Docs will be the superior swivel bicep for some reason?

I am thinking I may have to try to fix GL.

HEY I just looked. I still have GL, Sinestro and Luthor. I will go look to see what tools are recommended for swapping these. Since I forgot about them I am not too worried about hurting them.

But I fix them, my son will want some so are they still for sale somewhere? And where is the preferred place to get them GoHastings? AmokTime? I know there is an ad on our homepage I will look at that again.

Edit: I just looked It is Entertainment Earth.

    Thanks guys.

I LOVE Castaway bodies. I haven't actually swapped out any Retro hero heads, but I have seen some that have with excellent results (I place custom heads on mine). But my main reason for replying is to let you know I have had nothing but superb service from Castaway...every time. Their a very good company and I bet you will be very pleased if you order from them. Some of my favorites figures have come directly from them. I think your missing out if you pass on their product. Their quality and service is excellent.

Thanks MIB41 I'm thinking that I will try to swap GL, Luthor and Sinestro onto their bodies. I may join their club and order 3 bodies and whatever else I need to round out $30.

Well I looked it up and that is funny that you said that!
NRFB: 'Never Removed From the Box' means the item has never been taken out of the original box, thus never handled.

Did you ever see the Jimmy Neutron cartoon where Sheen opens one of these and induces a meltdown?

First thing I think of when I run across that type of post or listing.

When you are paying five bucks for custom hands. You are hard core when it comes to customizing.

I'll have to look, are the hands $5 ea? Are they formed just for guns or can they grip many different things?

Yeah they looked formed and can grip stuff. You know, I have never bought stuff from that site. I have always been loyal to Dr. Mego but there seems to be a lot of stuff I'd like to try out and see what it looks like. Alot of it looks pretty neat.

I decided to do an experiment and do a Retro body swap, but I wanted the look to be the same so I picked up a Flash and Kitbashed my Two-Face (which was so floppy, even my gasket fix didn't work!)

I heated the heads in boiling water. They get really soft and stretchy and I noticed that if I wasn't carefull, the neck plug was in danger of ripping. I ended up using a hook shaped sculpting tool to get hold of the edge of the plug and pull it out from under the lip of the neck hole. I poked a hole in the plug, but after it cooled it was fine. I used a wooden sculpting tool to push the plug back into the née body in hopes of not damaging it further.
The hands were heated and popped out easily.
Anyway, Two-Face is awesome now and I think I can probably put the Flash outfit and boots on eBay and get back a little money.

So if you swap heads, be carefull with that neck plug!
Expectation is the death of discovery.
