    Mattel SuperHero Bodies Fixed Yet?

I hate to post a thread but I could not find one.

I returned most of my Mattel DC Heroes, I think I may still have 2, I've moved, because of the hip/body issue making them bend over and being too loose to fly horizontally.

Has this been fixed? I would like to get a Green Lantern at least. Just point me to the thread where this was/is discussed and I'll catch up on the news.

    Thanks!

Wave 3 and all releases after have the fixes in place. You will be impressed. It's a good product. Don't miss out.

Awesome! So if I go to TRU now and buy a Green Lantern and he looks fixed, he is fixed?

And I guess that means if order anything online they are good to go?

WooHoo! Sorry I missed the news!!! I'll have to go dig out the 2 I think I still have and send them to Mattel for the coupon if they are still offering me a refund that way...

Thank you Doc. You are THE MAN.

I want to be on the EMCE IPO list if there is one.

but only wave 3 has been fixed, the previous are still the same, as no new productions of wave 1/2 are being re-made and sold.

They look pretty good now. The Green Lantern had the "air humper" pose that just looked wrong and I corrected right away but the newest ones I have not had to transfer them to a Doctor Mego body (even though I may later) but the early ones I had no choice. The first wave looked really bad.

Thanks Alex, since I don't follow this closely enough I was not sure what "Wave 3 and all releases after" meant and how I'd tell if something was released after the fix. Are there any plans to re-release Wave 1 and 2 and if so, how would I know?

Is there a thread for this?

Wrathdemon and I posted simultaneously so I came back to edit.
I bought 4 or 6 of Wave One and my son told me when he saw them that they were broken but I bought them anyway and had to take them back and I still have 2. I could get them swapped onto Doc Bodies but I'm not sure I'd break them etc and that sort of defeats the purpose of buying them to play with if I have to buy them and fix them. I don't even do that with my car.
              :O

I don't want them bad enough to build a collection to look at, I wanted to play with them with but now my son is 12 and half and is less interested. Although he did ask me last night about the Star Trek Bridge we had on the shopping list. I'll ask Doc about the boots but I think I know that the originals have not been re-released so if those are fixed the original characters would still have hollow boots and not hold their weapons properly. Right?

Honestly? Just get yourself a cheap bag of cotton balls. Take two out. Wedge one in the back of the inside pelvis and one in the front of the inside pelvis. Your fix is in. Try it. You'll see.

                  MIB41,

I read and appreciate many of your posts and I appreciate your tip. But for the life of me, I can not understand why a toy made today, a repro toy, is in anyway inferior to the 30yr old toy it is reproducing. It boggles my mind. Doc has made better in his kitchen for years and now the largest toy company in the world can't duplicate his efforts?

It kills me. Why do you put up with it?

If Mattel had at least duplicated Docs homemade efforts I'd have them all. If they had made any improvements, there may be commercials on TV again and they'd be sold out faster.

It is out of love and appreciation for Doc that I am playing along. If I just really wanted a Green Lantern it would be faster and maybe even cheaper to have one of you guys make me one.

Long ago. Maybe a decade ago I bought so many Spocks from DRCrandall and others that I still have 6 GOOD, 30yr old mind you, Trek bodies ready for customs. 30yrs old. No issues. Superior to what is on the shelves today.

I'm sure if I wanted to build my own I could get bodies from Doc, suits from Bleit, and build the entire Justice League this weekend. Lots of you guys sell custom heads.

I just would like to buy it and be able to play with it like I could back before we had computers and laser cutters and Lord knows what else.

I know I am in the minority even here at the museum, so I mostly just read and PM guys for details when I see something I don't understand.

BUT I may try your fix in this case because I won't be able to buy them it seems. And it may save me trying to swap a body. So thank you for the tip and I mean no offense. I'm glad you and others take the time to post the things that you post.

Now that I think of it, if I had bought this as a kid and could stuff a cotton ball in it to make it work and go play with it, I would have in a heartbeat and played all day.

I suppose that is your mindset. I really apologize if I came off harsh. Thanks again to everyone here.

Your fine cdhall. I understand your frustration. But do realize that Paul and Joe from EMCE played no role in that factory defect. And trust me when I say they bled heavily for it with regards to the feedback (which, in hindsight, was unfair). Most lines have a few bumps in the road when they start out and the Retro line has been no exception. What I will say is they have corrected those issues and now have the wind at their back. If you love Megos, there is no better time to be involved in this line. In the beginning I didn't know if this line would survive. Now I believe it is headed into waters even Mego never found. Lots of characters around the corner and so many Mego never made, I'm sure. Keep the faith. This line is getting really good now.

Along the same line as MIB41 I put a strip foam in a circle inside the pelvis and it worked fine.

The best combination in my book. The Mattel figures on a Dr. Mego body. I did that with all the first wave figures (the bad bodies) and they look amazing!

I've been "customizing" my figures since I found out you rcan take a GI Joe RAH apart with a screwdriver.

I think it really comes down to a matter of preference.

The Trek reissues were fine but I got Dr Mego bodies and extra Klingon boots and swapped out those Hollow Legs I hated even as a kid.

I think Mego are nice because we can change what we dont like.
Cant really do that with Marvel Legends,Movie Maniacs, or most toy lines.

When I get a new one I do factor in the price of the extra clothes ,body parts, or flocking it will take to get it the way i want it.

                              Good Luck!
( Paul said he intends to carry Swivel Biceps LJN style at Dr Mego Repros soon)
