Just a fact-check... was the Flatt Phantom released?
But where he really set things off was with the introduction of Flatt World Productions, his self-started toy company. Flatt World released high-quality MEGO-style figures at a premium price. As far as I know, the company’s only releases were licensed figures of Bela Lugosi as Dracula and classic comic strip character The Phantom.
I didn't realize what was planned!
      http://www.toymania.com/news/midohio...lattmain.shtml
Flatt World Figures was showing off their impressive line-up of 8" cloth-costumed, fully-articulated collectors figures at their Mid-Ohio-Con booth.

Flatt World Figures had several items on display, including Bela Lugosi as Dracula (already released), Antonio Banderas as Zorro, Lee Falk's The Phantom, Dr. Frankenfurter from The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Samaritan from Astro City.

Not bad. the ommision of Doc Mego however is a giant blunder. Plus even though he can't do the research at work, he had net access somewhere or he couldn't have posted the blog. Sorry but some things are sacred, and Paul's efforts are just as important (if not more so) than Charlie Flatt's.

He also said Kenner put out the DC line. It was actually Hasbro. I posted a comment, so he could update his blog.

I don't think the Phantom made it. I still mourn the loss of Flattworld's Rocky Horror.

His "Anchorman" ReMego suggestion is a really good one.

Flattworlds page has a picture of the set up and Charlie. Hanged Man, Phantom, Drac, Zorro.
                Was the Zorro ever produced?

I wouldnt be here if it werent for Paul and EMCE.

I think that's a little unfair. The post appears to be written my a toy fan, not an insider or Mego Museum guy, he doesn't need to know the personalities involved, he's just talking about the toys.

We all know Dr Mego is a very important part of it, but I think he might even balk at calling it sacred.

The only Flatt Figures I have is Dracula and Uncle Sam. I would have loved a Phantom and /or Zorro.

I was really looking forward to the Astro City figures from Flattworld, as I was a big fan of the comics. I made a custom the Samaritan and Jack-in-the-Box and even mention Flattworld in the description for Jack-in-the-Box. Seems like a long time ago now.

That was interesting as a personal reminiscence and I enjoyed reading it, but there were some omissions and factual errors.

One thing he skipped was Playing Mantis Action Jackson. He probably wasn't even aware of it, since it wasn't a licensed superhero and was only available through Kay Bee.

Another big one he forgot about was Exclusive Premiere. They had a whole bunch of good licenses in the mid to late 90s (Blues Brothers, Happy Days, Gilligan's Island, Brady Bunch, Dukes, some westerns, James Bond), and released a few dozen different characters. They weren't the best dolls articulation-wise and they were a little bit bigger than Mego, but since they were clothed action figures in near Mego scale, they were certainly talked about in the dark ages of early Mego fandom on the internet.

I really liked his Superman Gloves story. I made a similar mistake about something as a kid. It wasn't Superman's gloves...I forget what it was now but boy did I feel stupid when I realized I was wrong.

I've changed the headline from Very Thorough Blogpost to personal reminiscence. Much better.

                              Hey guys!
I am absolutely thrilled so many of you read my little article.
MegoScott - I'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you so much for directing other folks to it. I had nerd joy all day yesterday.
MegoSteve - I completely forgot about Action Jackson! And I worked at KayBee when they were available, too. Good call.
boynightwing - I actually called my mom again about the gloves after I wrote the article. Still nothing. Just that motherly laugh that says, "I don't understand you, sweetie. But I love you."
jimsmegos - I wish I had thought of "Giant Blunder" as a name for the blog. It has a great ring to it. I left a comment on the post addressing the hows and whys of my fact-checking and posting. Check it out - it might explain things a bit.
Everybody - It really means something to me that anybody got some enjoyment out of my writing. Thanks so much for checking it out. I don't write about Megos a ton, but I do more toy articles than anything else. Please keep on reading if you enjoy my style. Even if you don't, keep reading and tell me about it in the comments, or on my FB page!
PS - I checked out Dr. Mego's site. I'll be spending some money with that gentleman. I need a crew for the reissued Enterprise playset that just came in the mail!
                              Thanks - Phantom
