    Are Re-Megos still cost effective?

Someone in another post pointed out that Megos were originally made very inexpensively so that they could be sold at very low costs.

Are these re-Megos still made the same way?

I would think that these figures are more expensive to make than some other DC lines....especially when the figures are all plastic..and no cloth.

I assume that the new line is not made in the same quantities as the original...so I'd think that these figures aren't dirt cheap to make.

    Thoughts?

That is a very good question. I am going to have to believe that no they are not as cheap to make as the original mego's. I base this off the fact that plastic is not as cheap as it was due to oil costs. Licensing fees are through the roof, and I know the tooling costs are also probably high today. I do.think that the days of producing inexpensive toys with quality or details such as finely sewed cloth h suits are over. I would be curious to see production costs versus retail versus wholesale prices on each figure. Just for perspective. If we ever see the proposed value added tax it could severely increase the cost of these further.

Also you would have to add in the cost of printing the cards the artwork the bubbles that hold the figures to the cards and the fact that some come with extras (such as kryptonite, trident, etc)

I for one have no problem with the $19.99 price tag that these figures carry.

All things considered, $20 per figure seems just about right for what we are getting. A lot has changed in 35 years.

Walking down the wal mart isle, I saw plastic super hero figures priced at about $15 a pop, I don't remember what line it was. But, a few more dollars for the clothes and flexibility and there you have it.
