Would Mattel make Retro Doomsday ?

Is it too dark ? Or just too modern? Would they?

I don't see why not. I understand what you're saying about "too dark"
but if they can pull of Darkseid.... Doomsday isn't too much of a stretch...
and DOOMSDAY is one of the few post-bronze age DC icons that DC really
    pushes.... so there's that.

That's an interesting suggestion. I would love to see this. I am curious how they would the spikes. The Batman baddies are great, but I would love to see a good amount of Supes baddies.

      Doomsday
      Mr Mxyzptlk
      Zod
      Brainiac
      Etc.......

I'd buy a Doomsday. I'd have to make a Black Costume Superman custom (or they could make one) to have Superman return to life in.

Calling Doomsday "retro" is an oxymoron. He'd make an awesome figure but he doesn't belong in this line IMO.

There are WAY too many retro guys to make before Doomsday is on the radar.

My vote for Doomsday would be YES. I think the "retro" applies more to the style/make/design of the toy and less to the character choices.

I think people are still thinking these need to be retro characters. The truth is I don't think that's the intention. Its meant to represent the style of the figure. Personally I think its a good idea to mix it up. It will broaden the demographic and not just target 30-40 plus olds. That is a good thing for the health of the line. No one has to collect them all. If they make a wave that includes characters like Batman Beyond, Poison Ivy, Doomsday, etc......I am just thrilled the line will continue because it is mixing it up. I say bring on the characters ....no matter the era .....as long as it is balanced to some degree.

Superman died in 1992 which according to 102.1 the Edge (a radio station in Toronto) would be retro since they have the 90's Retro Nooner everyday.

(edit) I felt my comment here might come off as rude which it wasn't meant to be. My point is that retro is really in the eye of the beholder. Upon looking up the definition it seems to indicate anything old or out of fashion that has been brought back. Usually in reference to anything 15-20 years prior. The kids that work at my theater refer to Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers as being Retro.

I realized the whole idea of the line is suppossed to be Old School, but looking at the "kinder gentler " way the sculpts are done, yet not stylized i just have trouble envisioning Doomsday in this style.

I think it could still be done. They did with the JLU line and he was no dark or stylized. He is very simple as the whole line was a cartoony feel ( as should be since it is based on a cartoon) I can see him in the line but my only concerns is how the spikes would be done. I see a few ways this figure can be pulled off and fit in the line.

I'll likely make my own Bane when Doc's Muscle bodies are for sale.

I'd like to see it. It'd be interesting to see how they'd do it, material-wise.
