I remember hitting a comic book convention in the mid 1980s in Ohio and a dealer had a beat up Penguin. Wanted a hundred dollars. I thought if this goes for a hundred what must a nice one go for? My dreams of Megos were put on hold for over 20 years.

LOLOL! We all make boneheaded collecting decisions Jim! When I first started seeking out Megos to collect them was in the mid-eighties, when I wanted to find my childhood toys. The prices back then seemed high then, but now they were STEALS!! Well I traded my Aquaman shark (I still had it from my childhood) for a loose Mr. Fantastic and Thing!!! To me, I could never find those two figures as a kid so I'd VERY ERRONEOUSLY assumed they were rare. As the front/home page of the great Mego Museum says...if only I knew then what I know NOW! LOL!

I really enjoyed all the flea markets and "super" flea market shows that were going on all the time pre ebay. You could find everything there at wonderfully inflated prices!

Thinking about it now I remember one such flea market were I traded a guy a MIB 12 in boxed Mego Batman (comic version) for two Mynock Hunt Cinema scenes and a bunch of other "hard to find chase figures".

Considering where I'm posting this you'd think I'd be remorsful but nt really. We had so much fun back then I wouldn't trade those memories for nothing. Man those were really great times.

Oh yes, I was part of that search. One of my fondest memories from the Modern Star Wars era was finding the Shadows Of The Empire figures when they first came out! Those super cool purple cards were awesome. Amazing that was so long ago too now!
