Retro Action all the way. Famous covers and the Signature Series both seemed like a good idea due to their relative closeness to being a Mego but honestly the 9 inch format just didn't / doesn't do it for me. Even with the early flaws of the RA's my buyer's satisfaction level is a hundred times higher than with the famous covers stuff.

Thinking about it the only FC I bought back then were on clearance for super cheap. I never even bothered with the DC Hasbro figures because of the taste the Toy Biz FC left in my mouth.

For FC,I have pretty much the same feelings as what has been already posted.
But the FC red skull is 1 of my Favorite figures.
As for the retro line,I really like Batman,2 face, luthor GA and GL.
      The rest leave me cold.

Who says you have to choose? They were very different lines. I like them both. But if you put it in terms of scale, I like 8" best.

The FC bodies while horribly disproportionate in design are as well made as any out there. The feet and hands are constructed well but are way too big. The heads are terrible sculpts on almost all of them and many are too small. Hulk's head is flat. The female hands are huge if you put them on a male Mego body so they're way too big for a female character. I still collect them but there are definitely issues with them in the character renditions.

Hasbro actually did a decent job with their offerings. Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Green Arrow are all pretty good figures for the most part. My biggest issue with that series was why Superman Blue and why Flash, GL, and Aquaman in 12" especially when the GL is a different character and the Aquaman is a completely different version of that particular character. Make them in 8" and I believe those figures would have been highly sought after.

I still prefer the actual 8" scale the best though.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Great mention, it's wonderful to have choices..!!!

I collected a dozen FCs a decade ago, then sold 'em, now I'm buying 'em back again.. Yep, DD and the Vision didn't need big boots or Cap big gloves, but easy to customize and fix. The head sculpts not so well. Except the following..:

Vision.., Thor.., Iron Man.., Scarlet Witch.., Falcon.., Red Skull.

C'mon, those are all GREAT headsculpts, no doubt about it. I used my Falcon to make my wonderful YellowJacket.

Mego had some bad sculpts as well.., but I've come to like the poseability of the FCs, as well as using the FC costumes like Hawkeye's for the 8" line.

And love Reed and Sue Richards, even making a Johnny Storm with my retro Aquaman, since the FC heads are about the same size as Mego..

So I like the variety of both lines, until Mattel... Makes Mine Marvel..

The final 2 FCs were the best: Red Skull and Carnage.

They finally figure it out and the line is dropped.

I prefer the RAs but in hindsight I do believe the FCs were better than they got credit for.

I could probably have overlooked the screaming constipated faces if it wasn't for the 9 inch scale. I think I only kept the first Wolverine and Storm.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

the fc figures, interesting.i thought some were very cool-spiderman ,green goblen hulk, falcon, black widow,at the time i was busy with playmates star trek,i bought some famous covers ,but stopped because some were so poor ,aunt may -ugly,thor stupid-you take off his helmet and its a hole in the head hulk hogan,mr.fantastic-small head.invisible girl -storm head-looked bad on her,i bought this at target anyway,i still think their ugly. i also vote retro action by far, these are done right.

I realize I am probably in the minority but I prefer the Hasbro Signature Style and was hoping the Retro clothes might fit them but they do not. However, the Retro clothes fit the smaller FC body and since I enjoy the 9" more I have converted Lex, Two Face and Sinestro to FC bodies. The hands don't fit in tight to the FC Body but they do fit which is better for display than playing. The Retro Heads look great on the Hasbro Signature bodies, I just wish the retro clothes fit them too.

The only downfall I have with the Famous Cover line was the size, marketed as 8
" but to the shoulder not the head. The suits and heads and choice of figures were all really good.Love the 3 different Spideys they made.I think they are way under rated.Never paid full price on them, found them at Kay Bee toys Marc's and Ames.

I would have to say that the RA is the overall winner. The heads on the Famous covers were Mego sized, and the bodies were overly built. The plus is that the bodies were solid as a rock and they tried to give you accurate costumes. My favorites were Iron man and Falcon.

I love the new Retros but for all their flaws, I remember how thrilled I was to see the "new" FC figures back in the 1990s. They were as close to ReMegos as I expected we'd get. And they do make nifty custom fodder found cheaply.

The greatest obstacles to inner peace are disturbing emotions such as anger, attachment, fear and suspicion, while love and compassion and a sense of universal responsibility are the sources of peace and happiness.” - The Dalai Lama

How easy is it to put the Retro Action Heads on Signature/silver age Hasbro bodies?
Two face and Luthor need converting. ( to join Joker and Penguin)

Up until a couple of weeks ago, I had never even laid a hand on a Famous Covers. I don't even remember them being in stores because I hadn't rediscovered comics or toys when they were on the shelves.

Long-story-short...got a smoking deal on a few FCs from my Comic Shop Owner Friend and Garagesale hooked me up with a few more and I gotta say, I really kind of dig the ones I have.
