Do you all want the EMCE line to be exactly the same as the old Mego line?

Or do you want them to update it?

I've come to the conclusion that I'd love them to make the line exactly like the old line. Down to every detail.

Then once they do that they can update the characters to more modern styles.

    Is that so wrong?

Not wrong at all. But Mattel wanted their own body style so that option was off the table. Dr. Mego sells the Mego-style bodies at his online store. If you look at what EMCE did with POTA and Star Trek, I think you got your wish.

We are 13 characters into the line...isn't this a bit of a late wish?

Yeah, Doc Mego did that w/ Star Trek and POTA plus some really nice additions that weren't made back in the 70s for Trek. Mattel is a good marriage of classic and current, so I think it all works out. And hey, I love the fact that he has a site for building whatever characters I want!

i think emce figures are as close to classic mego as you can get,if emce decides to do a classic mego character, that was done before,i hope it would look like the original.in isis case a joanna cameron sculpt would sure be sweet, mattel figures have the mego look, and thats why i get them ,but with those bodies, old classics would not look right.

Hopefully the corrected bodies will help out as there is a huge difference between wave 3 and the first two waves. it would be nice to get corrected bodies for them as they are SO loose. But I am really loving the line and hope it continues for a while. I would love to see them stay "retro" with the character choices.

The EMCE Trek figures are outstanding and I love the monsters, too. Really hope to see Dracula and Mummy revealed at Toyfair!

I've been thinking a great deal about the evolution of the 1/6th hobby compared to the 1/9th hobby lately. The resurgence was no doubt based around the nostalgia of those old-school GI Joe's but has evolved to a point where increasing realism, accessories and detail has turned it into an upscale marketplace (ie Hot Toys).

Now that most of the wish-list retro lines have been launched (and I hope that Mego-ey entry level product aimed at kids and nostalgic collectors continues), I would be very interested in higher-end/quality/price-point 1/9th scale cloth outfit figures paired with the right licenses.

If the name of the game is "what if Mego had continued to make 1/9th figures", then they no doubt would have kept abreast with the contemporary sculpting detail and manufacturing techniques that we are seeing in the Hasbro 3 3/4" Star Wars and GI Joe figures for example. (although I'm glad we skipped over the EXTREME nineties, but we already know what the Famous Covers figures looked like as a "What If" scenario).

I think a Mego that still existed in contemporary times might not have a 1/9th body still held together by elastics for example... they might be more akin to how the contemporary 3 3/4" GI Joes are put together (or look at any number of the newly evolved bodies in the 1/6th marketplace today).

I just think that, in light of the fact that 40 years has gone by, Mego did a really outstanding job for the time.

For me, Star Trek is the best example of what I want. The continuation of an old mego line, done exactly like mego would've/should've done. If we can get that for WGSH, I'll die a happy man.
That said, Mattel's line has been doing a pretty good job of making me thank my lucky starts.

I agree with you. My kids have Megos that they can play with and never do they consider them old toys or out of date.
                    It's all good!

Great points about the Star Trek line. That was exactly what they did.

I really like these new toys...don't get me wrong. And have bought most of them so far.

But when I look at Wave 4 I keep thinking...Darkseid and Martian Manhunter over Robin...Batgirl...or Joker...not a great choice.
