    Power of the Re Mego...

So I'm gonna drive an hour to go get a new re Mego. Don't care which one just want to buy one off the shelf. Sick? Obsessive? compulsive?

    Nah.

Quit smoking and what better way to stay busy and reward oneself than with Re Mego's?

Sounds like a great way to spend the day!

I quit smoking in 1995 and rewarded myself with back issues of the Bruce Springsteen fanzine Backstreets. Haven't had a cigarette since and when I think how much I have saved...well, it's bought a collection of Megos and then some.

Congratulations and enjoy your re Mego!

There a definitely "worse" things to drive an hour for… I hope you find something great at the end of your trip.

Hey, re-Megos don't cause lung cancer or emphysema!

        "You've chosen... wisely."
"It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

Great way to spend some time. I do it every week looking for toys.

It's all good Jim!!! That excitement driving there is the best! Then, of course, the ride home with the goods laid out on the passenger seat to look at on the ride back! I don't text and drive but I ogle toys and drive. I'm sick with this. LOL! Congrats on canning the smokes too Jim!!

It's wonderful that you quit smoking, and yes, you should reward yourself. Since I don't have a car, I've taken BART, and 3 buses to get to a toy show, and that's a 3 hour trip! So I don't think anyone would fault you an hour to get your (re) Mego groove on! The world would be a far better place if everyone got this excited over toys and not over drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, power and weapons. Toys make the world a happier place.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

Remember, it's the not the destination, but the journey that counts.

Truer words have not been spoken.

I have a 45 minute drive to my favorite comic store and the drive and anticipation of what I might find is really bliss. It's what my mother in law calls "the jelly on the bread." and we all need it. That being said...

What re Mego did you get?

                          End of day update:

Like all the bestest of best "great days", this one ended different but better than I intended. The original destination was changed but a new course was mapped out. That course did however offer the possibility of finding Re Mego's; Toys R Us express and a TJ MAXX. Both ended up being a bust but that's okay...

As we continued bumping from store to store we kept finding some really great after Christmas clearance sales. For the wife I surprised her twice today, the first came as a 3 game set of Twilight themed board games (she loves those damned twinkling vampires) and then I really surprised her when I found the complete 3rd and 4th seasons of Bewitched, which is one of her top favorite shows of all time.

The getting got even better when we found 3 Ni Hao Kia Lan plush dolls for Kaitlynn for $3.74 each. These things were orginially 20 bucks a piece pre Christmas and birthday. Score for the baby!

In the end after a nice dinner we headed home. I was indeed "Re Mego less" but the day wasn't over. Honestly though I was glad I was able to score the extra little surprises for the wife and babe, it is better to give than recieve ya know? But don't get me wrong a Re Mego moment would have been nice... but wait the day isn't over yet...

When we got home and unloaded the swag I checked the bay and discovered that I was still the high bidder on a set of the Wave 3's. Excitement was in the air as the clock ticked down from an hour and half out to zero where I was declared the winner for only $71 bucks with $12 shipping.
See? The perfect end to the perfect day!

P.S. Thanks for all the kind and encouraging words on the quitting smoking. The time has come and thanks to Dr. Mego, Mattel, CastAway and Zica I've got some great reward motivators. And with the Museum I've got the greatest support group ever! Thanks fellows and girls!
