    The "Body Summit"

Been away from the boards awhile, as we've been elbow-deep in plastic over here prepping for upcoming NY Toy Fair. Besides the stuff you've been haring about, we've got more stuff in the works that we'll be able to discuss at the show.

Meantime, so no-one thinks we haven't been paying attention...

As we mentioned before, we've collated all the comments in the thread on the Mattel bodies and have done a full and thorough presentation to them about the potential changes. That is in progress; however, to manage expectations, several waves of figures are already in the near-completion stages so it may be some time before any of our suggestions make it into the development.

As for tweaks to the Doc Mego body in general, as well as variations of that which have been used by our various partners, we've held some "summits" right here at the shop so we can start planning ways to make improvements.

We said before that Paul's goal for the last 10 years has been to bring Mego back, which started with his compete recreation of the Mego body with some minor but important upgrades. That mission accomplished, it's clear that the next stage is to make the 8" format a more reliable and versatile platform on a broader scale.

Now, we've had several museum board contributors either on the phone or here at the shop to consult on everything from restringing to new plastics. We spent hours on the phone recently with Lonnie Fisher and just this past Friday, John Farley of Type 3 Toys spent most of the day here in person.

It's a lot to digest, but know that we are doing what we can to incorporate as much of this information as possible as we go forward.

Thanx again for your patience and support.

What a day it was! It was great to finally sit down with Joe & Paul and really talk. These two guys really want to take this format of 8" clothed figures the distance and I really got the impression that they were willing to do just about anything to make our dreams as collectors a reality!

For me, the best news would be if they announced a deal with Marvel to do it's characters in Mego format. I think I would potentially sheet me drawers right then and there.

How about mass producing the "Type 3" (Buff) body?

I'm hoping for Darkseid type characters to have a Mattel version of the Hulk body.

I'd like to point out that it was confirmed that a new piece has been inserted to tighten up the torso and the pelvis. Wasn't expecting any improvements in this line for another wave or two, so it seems things are moving ahead of schedule. Thanx to everyone who has been contributing to this.
