New mechanics of the Universal Monster body

I am really big on the mechanics of mego figures.
I dissect them within minutes of receiving them.
I was so enthralled with the new monster figures –
There was a long space of time that left me so totally enraptured.,
I actually FORGOT about 4 auctions I had been watching ALL WEEK!
I forgot to eat and I didn’t care.

Paul, you have made up for every issue I have ever had.
So who do we thank for the new redesigns?
After your monsters, Mattel & BifBangPow should really be looking at your
    new designs.

The BifBangPow Squishy/Translucent heads – Nicely solved with new sturdy heads
The Mattel Potato head / doll-like effect - Handled with FLATT style heads
For the first time, someone has sold me on the Flatt head look!
The modern scale heads for the monsters and the Twilight zone should set a new trend to follow! How will Mattel handle this? Mego style dolls that look COOL, not dopey?

Mattel heads that tear off at the neck.
    - a wonderful solution – screw together torsos!
    - I can’t believe it took 40 years to think that up!

The Sadly missing Gorn hands – you have made up for this in spades!
The new hands and feet are brilliant!!!!!

Problems with Heavy pvc bodies with Arms that are too tighened and tear –
Solved with new plastic. Lightweight, stiffer, yet softens in hot water.

    Plus the bonus features:
    Easy to swap hands!
Ridges within the elbows & feet for tighter poses.
Good Lord man, you are setting the world on fire!!!

If you dissected the monster, please show some of the goody for those of us that have not gone Frankenstein on our Frankensteins.

My camera screen is broken, so I can only aim in a GENERAL direction.
I left most of it as I found it.
I have the torsos. and one waist.
Cool new ways of using the rubber bands though.

I swap out torsos and put in central ball joints & LJN swivel shoulders, but none of that is absolutely necessary.
I'll be happy when Doc issues his own swivel shoulders.
One of the coolest changes is the new plastic and that won't translate into photos.
      Cheers,
      Guyx1

I am very happy if the arms are not so soft that the metal bits of the connectors will pull through them. I have been rebanding or switching my DM bodies and would be thrilled to not have to do that with the monsters.

I am also looking forward to swivels on the arm joints. I take it these don't have swivels?
Frank doesn't really need a swivel, but the wolfie could do with one.

You mean Mattel Retro-Action heads? Where and when have you seen screw together torsos on Retro Action bodies?

He's talking about the Universal Monsters. The pelvis and torso are screwed in place.
The rubber bands are parallel rather than crossed.
The bodies are very nice and sturdy. Beefy. Very well done. Even the outfit looks great. Oh and Frankie is sporting a black onesie. LOL But for good reason. No snaps on back of the shirt. WELL DONE!!

PS - The platform rubber boots ROCK!!!

Everything rocks. The wolfman has a furry underoos as well as tight furry leg warmers. There was no detail they left out.
Love the construction of the bodies though. there are so many uses for the new (monster) body tweaks. Like connecting the figure together through that new post running thru the torso. I sooo want more monsters ASAP!
                Cheers,

All kidding aside about how long it's teken for me to get my monsters...:-)

We're really proud of how these came out. From the sculpts to the protoypes and then finally to execution, it's just been a lot of fun.

I gotta say for the record, that Diamond has been with us since the beginning and it's gone from "when will they fire us" paranoia (on my part, anyway) to a true meeting-of-the-minds partnership. They not only know toys, but they know the collector market itself so well and their ability to source and produce is just amazing. As the collector business contracts in this post-recession economy, they are one of the few survivors who still stand strong and do great work.

I mean, look at the friggin' Tricorders they're producing...Christ, the only thing they don't do is actually take alien atmosphere readings.

Anyway, buy more stuff from them so they can get more licenses and we can keep working with them. They're awesome people.
