Drac and Frankie TM on cards

I just noticed on the EMCE Dracula and Frankenstein cards a TM after their names (in circle bust photos)

Does that mean Universal really owns both names ?

Or is TM different from R ?

    Thanks for the info

I *think* it means that the particular style and font spelling out those names in that manner are trademarked.

what he said - Dracula and Frankenstein are public domain, but Universal owns
the logos and their versions. We have a style guide that lays out the exact
details and colors that they have to be.

yep, good guess joe...i remember the topic coming up when we started caucusing on the public-domain issue when i was back at universal and this was the only way they could claim the names. as for the characters, there are specific points (flat head, neck bolts, sutures) that the legal guys nailed as specific to the universal executions as well.
