The likeness of former BBP Jack and Sawyer prototypes was not good but they looked better than these new ones. And Dharma uniform looked better also on that unproduced BBP figures. I think they used a different type of cloth. I hope they will improve a lot these two iconic LOST characters. The rest ones are just OK to me.
Ah! and I also think that accesories are fundamental on this line. A weapon at least, even if is the same rifle for every figure for cost reasons.

Sorry to appear negative guys, but something about them is very unappealing to me.
Their suits are nice, but something else just rubs me the wrong way..

Now, those Twilight Zone figures are over the moon, as is Brock Sampson!
I cant wait to order my 'Brick Mantooth' so I can hold a three-man brawl with Brock and Ursus!!

Too bad about those Mattel figures, man, I really LOVE their packaging and their bodies, but we were burned on them - We got Sinestro and Lex at Toys-R-Us and they were so damn LOOSE that they felt like marionettes, thats a shame because they are so GREAT otherwise, kind of like eating the BEST sandwich in the world and then finding a roach in it at the end
      .

      Take care -

I think people really need to speak up about this. The sewing on the costumes is nice, but somehow the scale on the lost figures is a bit off. A massive step down from the amazing quality of the Twilight zone figures. The slightly oversized doll-like heads and stuffed bellies on the lost figures... OMG I thought some of these things were funny, but those are a lot of figures, costing a lot of money to produce. A huge investment that could be better spent elsewhere. The reality that investing money in producing and retooling a Lost mego toyline could derail other bifbangpow releases from going into production really scares me. BifBangPowand Zica have the best looking mego figures out there, but the market is not huge. We are mainly collectors in the age 30 - 50 market. A market that is more conservative with their spending on new toys.
If we have a failure 1/9 toyline, it could kill the mego scale for several years.
I don't want this to be "the end of an era..." as in the advertisement.

Someday, everyone is going to be able to look at prototypes and understand that the heads are big on purpose to account for the vinyl shrinking.

            Someday.....

The (first 3) Dark Shadows protos did not have big heads, The Twilight zone and venture brothers all looked great
Almost all the Lost figures look seriously odd and creepy.
The emce Khan, sulu, chekov, & salt vampire prototypes had normal heads, but the christopher pike head is just crazy HUGE! Like captain potato head.

I get that heads start out large and there is shrinkage, but seriously. Look at at the big headed figures that have made it into production
              - like some of the kenner 12" movie figures. Greedo, poison ivy, etc. Austin H. would never let people see his reproheads looking like potatoes.
Are the toy companies to be judged by a different standard than Austin?

I sure hope these things get SERIOUSLY retooled.

Nevermind Kenner or Austin H. The point is the Lost prototypes. We are all savvy enough to know that the heads shrink on the final product. The other EMCE figures you listed? Those did/will shrink too. The newest Pike proto I saw at NYCC had a more in scale head that the first leaked photos. LEAKED photos, meaning they weren't ready to be shown to the public.
I don't like when the heads are too big on the final product either, but these aren't, and we all know they aren't, the final product.

                  We all know this?
To me a lot of this is all looking like classic tv toys final releases so
they are going to have to prove to me that they will look a lot better before I get interested.

I'm a fan of Lost, but will happily skip this line completely. We've seen some absolutely great stuff in the new age of Mego, but this isn't it, frankly.
I hope they do well, if only to keep this new era going....

You stated in your earlier post that you knew the heads would shrink for final product. I would venture to say yes all of us on these boards have seen enough prototypes and enough product to know that the heads will shrink.

I'm not telling you to like them, that's up to you. But it's just silly to me that every time proto pics come up, someone points out that the heads are too big. That's what my "someday" comment/joke was about.

^^ I agree that those of us "in the know" are aware of this, but I do think it's way to much to expect the general public to understand or care about that. If the success of these is to be based on presales, then it's vital that the prototype presentation be as attractive as possible. Horrible, hideous and ugly are adjectives that are being used a lot for these figures----I do not share that opinion, but it's pretty widespread... I'm participating in a discussion at lostpedia about these and the Lost fan community (never the most positive bunch of folks to begin with) are being very very hard on them.

You only have one chance to make a first impression!

Scott, I have to say your mego website actually makes me like the idea of LOST megos. Now if only the final production figures are as inspired as your Dharma Van & BJ Plane, maybe the final Lost figure releases will actually be cool and not look like something out of a Charles Band horror film.
                              Cheers,

Thanks. I am swimming upstream on this one, but I'm having fun with my Lost projects and hope these figures get made. I think they will be fun for some of us, if not wildly popular with everyone else.

But I'm not blind. I'm on record with my complaints and hope for improvements.
