So what's the latest on the Mego name?

I just watched a YT clip from Mego Meet '09 where The Doc/EMCE said he was still trying to obtain the Mego name... has there been any progress reported?

I believe Marty Abrams once again owns the name Mego.

Right, I remember Paul telling us that...so why is no one using it? Why not change EMCE to Mego?

Marty either wants to use the name or sell it I would imagine.

Are we talking about for trademark purposes here? I think this goes back to the old Lego vs Mego battle for being able to register Mego as a word mark in the class of toys. Lego successfully opposed Mego's attempt to register this word mark and as far as I know that hasn't changed. I assume if someone else attempted to register the Mego mark in the same class as Lego, Lego would once again oppose.

That's not what Doc said...he said Marty was able to secure the name Mego.

                Mego

If this line was renamed MEGO, I would cry tears of joy. It is like going back in time, MEGO was virtually in every home, rich or poor. I myself must have went through at least a hundred. I remember going to birthday parties and giving MEGOS as gifts. I would clean this old guys house down the road, collect my 5 dollars, and head down to K Mart or TG&Y or David's and buy a new MEGO or replace a broken one. The only orignal one's I have left are the Wizard of Oz characters. I have re-bought the Super Hero MEGOS from ebay at a hefty cost.Except for the Teen Titans, they are too expensive. I am enjoying this rebirth.

Actually, I think Marty announced last year there is no problem between him and LEGO. If he wants to bring back MEGO tomorrow LEGO would have no problem with it-they wont MEGO-block him.

I've got no problem with the name EMCE. It's become a great little inside joke.

It's not there's a problem with it. It's just that seeing MEGO as an official company would be the ultimate!

Not gonna happen, guys, sorry. They've tried to get the trademark back, and there's no way they can retain it.

For all intents and purposes, EMCE is Mego now. That's why we created the name, rhymes with "MC" for "Mego Corp". Had a feeling it was a lost cause, so the name was a backup if we couldn't get it with the Abramses.

So, EMCE is the new Mego.

perhaps you could redesign the logo with lowercase e's
that would sort of emphasize the "MC" thing.

                              eMCe.

that is sort of how my brain always processes it.

Of course it really doesn't matter all that much. We know what the toys are and where they came from. It's all good, as they say.
