Just wanted to say as a fellow Mego fan from way back, the Mattel EMCE DC figs got me back into the whole Mego thing bigtime. Visit the site and forums daily, I guess you could say I'm sort of obsessed now. I'm buying "the book" and even plan to order some Space:1999, POTA, and monster figs. Then I'm going to buy some pegboard and hooks and make a faux retail display for all the carded figs. I'm crazy about these. It's like it's 1975 and I'm ten again.....

Yeah, and now that the holiday season is almost upon us, I really wish (although I know it's not gonna happen), that EMCE and Mattel had commercials (Mego style) on TV. That would really capture that 70s Mego-ey feeling."Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment

I also am hooked in. While I have been actively collecting all scales of figures for 25 years, my focus at the moment is 8" Mego and Retros. I actually joined this forum 17 months ago, but didn't start posting till last month. By the looks of up coming releases, I'll be hooked for a while!Comment

"The Book" is the best thing ever--it's like Mego porn!
I love new stuff--what "might have been." But reacquiring vintage items is really fun, too--I'm trying to assemble a log of where & when I originally got certain Mego characters as a child.
It's been surprisingly difficult--my specific memories are fading, esp. regarding years & holidays.Last edited by PNGwynne; Oct 17, '10, 8:47 AM.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

Memories.............when I was probably 8 I use to walk many miles in the summer to a strawberry farm and pick strawberries all morning and get I think a dime for every basket. Then I would walk a few more miles to a K-mart and buy myself Megos. Looking back I'm sure thats how I learned my work ethic and the value of a dollar as a child. Of course back then your Mom could set you free and not expect you home till dinner. By the time I was 10 I was hopping a bus into the BIG city by myself to go to a comic store and get all my 20 cent comics.Comment

The shame is that kids today are being sheltered and chauffered from playdate
to playdate until they are 12 - as a result, they don't have any street smarts.
We used to ride off in the morning, spent all day riding around the county in
the midst of cars, and come home at dusk for dinner.
I don't believe the world is really any different now than when we were kids,
but we have all become too afraid of nameless faceless bogey men to let
our kids learn to be independent and self-reliant.
Mind you, I'm not brave enough to let my 8 year old go out on her own - I don't want to be the guy whose kid got hurt because I wasn't watching her. My wife would skin me alive for that.Comment
