I finally opened up a Bif Bang Pow figure. I'd purchased several cases for my store, but this has been a very slow seller, so I figured I was safe opening one up.

I know next to nothing about the man and his band, but the figure is very well done. The head suffers from the previously-mentioned translucent look, and some details are obviously lost, but it's not bad at all. The clothes and accessories are very nice, especially the Mego-sized guitar! I like the tattooed legs and wish they'd gone that route with the forearms as well instead of covering them up with a white shirt. The shoes are standard Mego Penguin shoes, but with gold stripes painted on the sides. The stripes add a lot to the shoe, though, making them look more like tennis shoes.

All in all, I'd grade the figure a solid B.

Thanks for the review Joe. I like this figure mainly for two reasons. One it is Scott Ian of Anthrax and Anthrax kicks arse and two because it is Mego like and will fit in well with the rest of the collection.

Not to crap on BBP or EMCE or anyone who had anything to do with this figure, but I suspect you'll be sitting on a lot of these figures.

BifBangPow could have licensed a Mego figure of my Grandma and probably did as good of sales.

Thanks for your concern. We're not sitting on a bunch of these because our edition size was tiny.

We've had the Scott Ian license for a number of years and have sold through on his bobble head. Making an action figure of him and all of our properties this year was a goal of ours and to show our big commitment to EMCE with a wide breadth of products that appeals to a wide variety of customers. That strategy has worked.

For clarification, I was actually talking about JDeRouen eventually sitting on a lot of these figures, not the BBP/EMCE guys.

I can appreciate your commitment to your brands, people you've worked with like Ian and EMCE. That said, as a consumer, it can at times be frustrating and puzzling to see product repeatedly denied as being niche to toy companies, while other toy companies are putting out figures that appeal to a niche of a niche of a niche. I should note that, I'm well aware that for the most part BBP appeals to niche groups, so you guys are in the clear in that sense.

That said, some of the choices of many toy companies this past year have been confusing to many. I personally found this an instance of a product that made me scratch my head. If it worked out good for you guys, that's great. I'm just fearful that a couple of bad decisions could spiral into a real problem. So long as it's not, more power to you.

Also, my grandma is open to a having a figure of her.

I have recently got a Scott Ian figure and I like how they included a guitar with strap accessory and had no problem with this coming out in the market.
This will be a good addition to my collection in which I already have the Bobblehead too.
BBP has a wide arrange of products that is targeted to different customers.
So if somebody don't like it,just don't buy it,right.There are still others out there like me.
This one appeals to me since I like Rock music,from classic rock,heavy metal,alternative..etc.
For the people at BPP,is there any chance of you guys will be doing "METALLICA" figures,that will be awesome(of course if a guitar accessory included).
Probably separate drum set accessory for the Lars Ulrich figure.
Hopefully you can get a License to produce these,the last figures i have was done by McFarlane.
But it will be great to have a retro version of these guys.!!

I've opened several BBP figures and haven't had any problems with the arms. They're just standard Dr. Mego/EMCE bodies, aren't they?

I've sold enough Scott Ian figures to break even, at least, so I'm not worried. And I also love the guitar!

Finally opened The Dude tonight. My 8 yr old son has already stolen the rug. I offered him the figure as well, but he didn't want it. Said it creeped him out. I asked why, and he said because it looks like pictures of God. Who knew?
