Even I have to say you trumped me in the "putting your Foot in it department". I made an off color joke here, and got plenty of flak for it. While it would have got a big laugh at my blue Collar Job...this is obviously not the place for my twisted sense of humor. So I plan to choose my metaphors more carefully in the future.sigpicComment

I think you're completely missing the point of the Retro Action Heroes. They're supposed to look like they're made in the 70's/80's. Thats the point of the whole thing. That's what Retro means in this case. Otherwise they'd be Modern Clothed Heroes or some such thing.
Maybe you should look into collecting the DC Direct 13" clothed figures if you're looking for modern "realism". They do the job nicely. But just because you don't like the Retro Heroes doesn't mean the rest of us aren't allowed to.Comment

I'm tired of "cheesy" figures, too. But everyone has a different opinion of cheesy--some like American & some prefer Limberger...
It's perfectly possible to make the best of the Mattel figs, at at a cost cheaper than a custom fig. Should we have to? Maybe not, but they're not junk.
Several people here at the Museum have spent years working to reintroduce Mego-type WGSH. They no doubt wish that the Mattel product were better, too.
But to suggest, even glibly, that they "shoot themselves" is over the top. Posting your PM only exacerbates things.
You were not asked to leave, only to consider the content/tone of your posts. Take that seriously--we do. Very talented & long-time members have been asked to leave because they could not be civil. Your involvement in collecting does not give you a pedigree--I've been collecting since 1977 and do not feel that gives me a right to recommend dispatching collectors less "experienced."
Many members here are frustrated by Mattel, too--but step back & reconsider; take Bryan's adviceWANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

Yeah, I think you made a comment that was just in really poor taste, and they called you on it. Since day one I've been impressed with the general tone of civility among the members here. And I think the reason for that is -- unlike a lot of toy sites out there -- this place is a real community. (Median age and maturity also play a part, I think.) At other sites you come across while surfing the interwebs, no one knows each other and they often seem to get in a race to find out who can be the most nasty and insulting. The Museum is a veritable island of civility in an ocean of just the kind of vulgar, toxic vitriol that makes you worry about the future of the human race. It's like there's a deliberate blindness to the fact that there's an actual person on the other side of the screen name. There's also a tendency for the accuser to forget that, in most cases, they would never be that nasty, or brutish, or just plain stupid if they were actually standing face-to-face with someone (who, you know, might ask them to step outside).
I'm not saying all of that applies here, just that they're good things to consider before hitting the "submit" button.Comment

Yeah. I think one of the problems with the discussion of the new figures is a lack of explanation as to why folks don't like them. Lots of onomotopeia, lots of venting.... which is fine, but doesn't do other folks any good. Same thing went for the CTVT stuff. I was okay with the cruddier bodies 'cos I got them cheap, and used 'em for customs where I was gonna replace the hands and feet. One person's trash was my treasure.
