My review of wave 2 Bats and Two Face

Tonight's review is not an SDCC exclusive, but I did pick them up there - it's Batman and Two Face from the second series of Retro Action DC figures. Let's be honest - if you don't like Megos, you aren't going to like these, but for those that have that nostalgic love for the vintage series, these are just about perfect.

I also have a guest review from Jeff Parker, who is looking at the latest Hot Toys Cosbaby figures from the Disney license. You can find all the reviews at the usual:

Also, I, like many others associated with the toy industry, was deeply saddened by the death of Eddie Wires. He was not just a fantasticaly talented artist, but a terrific guy as well. You'll be missed.

Very good review. Some great photos there as well. Two-Face's head sculpt really shines in those pics. I still need to grab him.

Fun review. One glaring thing Michael missed was that UGLY Bat emblem he got on his Batman figure. In the pics, it is clearly coming off the fabric and looks even slightly mangled around the edges. Had I been in possession of this figure, I would have scored down for that. Looks tacky. Really jumps out at you in those pics.

Those are some of the most amazing pics I have seen of the Retro Action line.

Nah, symbol looks good to me. But then, when has the bat symbol on a mego-esque version ever looked good? :D

Good review Mike. I noticed that you agree that the removable Cowl makes the Head look to big.

I agree. The emblem is coming up around the edge on that one. However, I disagree with lumping this in with the 'that is quaint like the OLD megos are' attitude. We could easily have 8" figures with cloth goods that hold up. I am also surprised that the body rated as high a score as it did with the wobbly pelvis issue. And again, I am somewhat dismayed by the 'quirky, just like the OLD megos' type of attitude.

If you look around at the other shadows, the main light source is coming from the upper right. It could be that the emblem material is just thicker on the left side, and is causing a slight shadow.
