Went to NYC Toys r Us and Lex Luthor and Sinestro were both $11.99 and they were NOT moving at all. Tons of them yet not a Superman or Green Lantern in sight. Perhaps this line would survive better if more Batman villians were mixed in waves because it looks like only Batman villians sell well enough. Here we are up to wave 4 and no other Batman foe. I think this will be a huge mistake if we don't start seeing more of them. Where is Joker,Penguin,Riddler and Catwoman? We get Black Adam who is more a modern age bad guy and another Sinestro (modern age)...isn't this called Retro-Action? If Toys r Us continue to see peg warmers they can't move they may not want to carry this line and it scares me. Non Bat-villians should be short packed so it doesn't look like these are not moving. Figures only out since April should not already be red ticketed. Joker,Penguin,Riddler and Catwoman would give so much push to this line.

I don't know if the Bat-villains would sell any better---do you really think, say, Penguin would sell better than Luthor? I doubt it. Personally, I'll buy any classic character they make, but I think Superman and Batman will be the bread and butter of this line to non-collectors. -
Yes I really think Penguin will sell better then Lex Luthor. Batman villians are famous world wide. With the DC Universe line Penguin was in wave 1 and I could hardly find him anywhere. Now he can only be bought on the after market. No denying his popularity, especially with the older generation.
There isn't a person on the street that wouldn't know who Penguin,Joker or Catwoman are. Riddler maybe not as much but I think even he would come to people's heads more then Lex Luthor. There are many people who would probably only collect Batman related characters. I'm not one of them BTW...I have plans to buy everyone announced so far except Black Adam. I just find it very odd that Lex and Sinestro are everywhere and not moving. I can see stores ordering less of these if the villians continue to not pull their weight in this line.Comment

I'll give you Joker---he's definitely an A-lister and I'm sure he'll turn up soon.
As far as the rest...I guess it depends on who the target audience is. For an old-timer like me, sure, Penguin is one of the big guns due to his prominence on the 1966 TV show---I could be wrong but I don't get the impression that subsequent generations of fans hold the character in the same esteem (or Riddler for that matter).
I think Mattel will really have to bring something new to these characters to elevate them: maybe Penguin on a teen body with padding, removable hat & umbrella, killer face sculpt and maybe Riddler with three-piece suit with question marks, removable hat and cane? Catwoman in classic purple dress/green cape, to be sure.
What do you think?Comment

The NYC TRU has had these same figures for sale for over a month....they were sent to many cases....went through Supes,GL and half the lex's /Sinestros one two three...then marked down what was left...as soon as they get wave two, these figures will be moved to the bargain isle...this TRU does this with every thing they get in mass."Thats the ticket laddie"Comment

It would be cool to see more Batvillains, but I seriously doubt Penguin would sell better than Lex Luthor. I'd buy him for sure tho

Penguin for sure should be shorter and removable hat would be great. Riddler though would look best in his classic jumpsuit. It's the outfit most people remember. I want these characters just as much as Joker. Catwoman I'm sure will be in the purple dress. If DC wouldn't allow an eagle on Wonder Woman I would be shocked if they allowed Catwoman in that short lived pirate outfit. Same with Supergirl. I'm guessing the poofy sleeves, hot pants and slippers wouldn't go over well as it was short lived and long forgotten. Supergirl will look best in the silver age blue skirt or like Helen Slater's look (minus that ugly yellow on the boots)Comment

Not me. I want to see Penguin released in this line. He's one of my favorite classic Batman foes tied with Riddler. I've never been as much into Joker...especially after they turned him in to this cold blooded killer who killed for no reason. He's iconic so I must have him,but not because he is one of my favorites.Comment

I've said it before and I'll say it again - This line needs other vendors to increase the distribution and get the prices down. I was walking through my collector room last night and got to looking at the Hasbro Signature Series figures. It didn't take long before I was comparing them to the Mattel line up. It was interesting. However you weighed the pros and cons of the each figure regarding body, sculpt and what not. The one undeniable quality in these figures was how well the manufacturing was executed. The outfits were stitched well and the bodies were strong and functioned without any awkwardness to them. In other words they were made well and packaged in eye catching boxes. I decided to put them side by side for a "shelf" comparison and the Mattel figures just registered badly. They looked cheap. Forget the intent in how they were made. They just looked cheap in those awkward poses. And the thing is they cost more than what the Signature Series figures did. A whopping 20% more on average. So for items that are suppose to be impulse purchases, you would think Mattel would care about how they are displayed to maximize that 'wow' moment to justify the price. In this instance, the "wows" are getting replaced with "hmmms" and then the price becomes a bigger consideration. These criticisms can be dismissed as "nerd nitpicking", but I think these often sited issues are valid points that will likely grow louder should the line begin to falter and end prematurely.Comment

Wal-Mart and Target carry everything else for the most part in the lines of Mattel. Some one stated here before that they are exclusives. IF they are SO exclusive then what is every on line store by every Tom, Dick and Harry doing having them in stock when the major stores do not even carry them?
