Agreed...the Mattel Legs have got to go. They spoil the look of the whole Figure. The upper Body(Torso & Arms)I like.

AWESOME TUTORIAL,...specially for those who like displaying them (like me)!!!!!! Really liked the step by step tutorial Ariel!!! Only one thing worries me a bit,..wont the thin costume material snag at the parts where the vinyl sheet parts at the joints? Im afraid of doing this and getting runs on the outfits.....any advice???? Really wicked tutorial,..and yes,..prefer keeping the original Mattel body,....if only Mattel could see this so they correct the flaws.....

Nice tutorial - very innovative fix. I agree with Mr. Spam that the comparisons really highlight those funky thighs. It would be nice if the pelvis were made a little larger, and the thighs toned down a bit to make things flow a little better.

Here's a thought... I wonder if Mattel bodies would be a good substitute for a Super Joe head?

Thanks for this - great work.

I have to say that the corrected Mattel figure really emphasizes how odd the thigh design on the body is, though. The more I look at it, the less I like it. Using other legs on the bodies really makes a difference in how appealing it is to me.

I'd still like to see a comparison with a Mego pelvis, or a CTVT one dremelled out to take in more of that thigh. I'll have to get to doing that soon....

Great tutorial I personally like the Mattel body and this shows how Mattel should approach a fix

That is a heck of a detailed tutorial-kudos on that. Please forward it to Mattel so they can do this for us. Thanks!

Seems to me there is alot of cost and time. I agree do them right at the factory or switch costumes and heads

Thanks for this. I am going to try this. With only a couple of exceptions so far, I have kept my Mattel figures on their original bodies. I would actually like the Mattel body a lot more if it would hold a pose from the waist down! I agree that we should not have to do this kind of work to make a brand new body work right. I would love to see what others have tried as well!

    Nicely done tutorial.

I do agree with Rich. Too bad that Mattel cannot get their stuff together (no pun intended) to begin with so there would be no need for this type of "additional" work.

Your tutorial is very nicely done and simple for most people to follow and understand. I just do not see a lot of (consumers) kids and parents wanting to go through all of the extent when the product "should" have been right to begin with.

At least there will be people here who will use this info and benefit from it. Thanks for taking your time to put this together.

The repaired body with the EMCE legs would make an ideal Robin figure. I like it. Thanks for the tutorial.

Wow...that looks like a lot of work. Really great job though...well thought out.

The one I like best is the one with Mego/EMCE Legs. Too much work for me though...I'll just use a Cast-A-Way, or Doc's new Flash Gordon Body.

One of the fixed bodies has a set of Zica legs....

I'd just go with a Zica. Put the heads and costumes on a well made body.
