Same problem here. I decided to crack open my RA Batman today and check him out. The body at the waist and hips was VERY flimsy and loose. I don't get how an old-school, tried-and-true toy manufacturer like Mattel could produce a body like this that won't hold a pose beneath the waist and, also, won't stand well as a result. I don't get it. How many years have companies been producing action figures, again? You'd think a little accumulated knowledge would prevail here.

At any rate, I decided to take the suit off and try one of the tricks that, at least, keeps the figure upright. Right away, when the suit was no longer stretched, the emblem crinkled and began to fall away from the suit. I immediately stopped and snapped the suit back up. Now, the emblem looks wonky and is coming up around the edges. Aaaagh! My guess is that the factory didn't heat seal it long enough. It looks like a t-shirt transfer that didn't get enough heat.

I can't believe I have to consider putting a repro emblem on a $20 figure that's 15 minutes out of the package.

    Bummer.

Well, this kind of sucks. The only thing I would want the Mattel Batman for, is a Custom(the Head & Cowl have got to go!). But if I can't take the Suit off without cracking the Bat Symbol...then the Figure is completely useless to me.

Just to keep things straight. The emblem did not crack at all. It just simply fell off when the suit was removed from the body. Either the suit material won't hold the emblem, or there was not enough heat to adhear it properly.

...and mine is the same way. It looks like it would have fallen off in one piece if I had let it. Now, it's just crinkled-looking and lifting at points around the edge.

Well that I can live with. I already have some nice Cloth/Sticker Emblems from REPROHEADS. And some Sicker type Emblems from ThatBatmanGuy.

For what it's worth, I tried a "fix" on my Batman emblem that seemed to be lifting around the edges after beginning to remove his costume.

I used a piece of that wax-paper-like paper (NOT actual wax paper) that comes with inkjet printer t-shirt transfers to go between your iron and the transfer.

I took off Bat's cowl and cape and used the tip of a hot clothing iron and the paper to try and re-adhere Batman's emblem (the emblem is just like a little t-shirt transfer...seems like the same material). With the paper between the tip of the iron and the still costumed figure, I used the very tip of the iron to gently rub the little emblem back onto the fabric using heat. I didn't hold it on long (not more than a few seconds at a time) and I checked under the paper frequently.

The results were somewhat mixed. It's definitely better and the edges are no longer lifting. The downside is that it made the parts of the black bat in the emblem a little bit lighter. Not too bad, though.

Just wanted to share what I did. I'm not recommending that anyone else try this. I don't want anyone upset if the process doesn't work for them or the results make things worse. So, if you try it, it's at your own risk.

Well, if that happens w/ mine, I'll just make an iron-on emblem w/ the same transfer paper you mention. (I have some and did this w/ a Mego Batman suit.)

Sad that there's a million and one "how to fix them" posts for brand new Figures.

Absolutely. There's no reason a company like Mattel should be producing figures that are floppy, won't pose, and have issues like emblems coming off. These issues shouldn't even be consumer considerations at this pricepoint.

I'm sure it drives everyone at Emce crazy, as well. I'm sure these types of issues are out of their hands and fall squarely on Mattel's shoulders. I love the costumes and headsculpts on these figures. It's just too bad that they are saddled with such a poor base body and QC issues.

I peeled off the emblem on a Batman I opened and re-attached it using
a glue stick after reading these posts. The glue stick works well.

think it will hold up to kid play? I was considering running the emblem thru my xyron sticker maker gadget, but was wondering if the jumper material would hold it. I may just have to make up a bunch of spares. At least until this one becomes Bruce Wayne and we get ahold of a bats with blue hands.

I used a tiny bit of Aileen's Tacky Glue, applied with a toothpick. After it dried, I wiped off any residue with a damp paper towel. Works like charm, as this glue dries clear.

                              kid play

Nothing holds up to kid play, but I find that the glue stick gives
enough adhesive to get into the fibers of the spandex and
                              grip it when it dries.

touche, doc. I will rephrase the question.
Do you think it will hold up to more than one minute of kid play?
