Is he part owner of the EMCE company or is his hand into it even more than that? It seems he would have to be in the middle of this virtual explosion of the Mego-scale figures that essentially he created in the early 70's. Just curious he has been nowhere to be seen during what has to be an historical weekend for Mego-scale figures.

Where is Marty Abrams in all of this?

To me it seems if he is involved in some way he would probably be silent and behind the scenes somewhere.
Marty is part of the old school toymakers ... where company presidents and execs didn't try and sell themselves along with their toys.
That's the way I see it. -
If memory serves, Doc came to him with the Star trek first wave to get his blessings and pay respects. He earned Marty's respect and friendship. In turn, Marty put him in contact with a few of the right people to get the WGSH line resurrected. I don't thing he has anything to do with the actual workings.
I do wonder if he has gone into a TRU and looked down to see a few pegs of Retro figures, I can picture him there smiling with nearly the same pride Doc must feel.Comment

Me too, but the possible disadvantage is it would be harder to do projects in the future because of your limited exposure as opposed to being an outright media glutton.Comment

At the MegoMeet powerpoint presentation, Doc included a pic of a fun one of a kind Marty Abrams Mego Action Figure that they gave Marty for a recent milestone birthday.Comment

"It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."Comment

Thought this story was said before, so I'll clarify again.
I knew Ken Abrams from prior business and had been talking to Paul for a while about going after some licenses to evolve his parts business into a full-fledged toy line. Even the Abramses didn't know the status of the assets, so I had a legal guy look into it and discovered that everything was pretty much public domain, except for characters and associated art.
I pitched the idea of reviving Mego directly to Ken and his dad, who said that they've "heard this story before" and to let them know if we have any luck with a license. I promised them that, despite the public domain status that we'd ensure their participation in anything we do on these lines. Being a former Star Trek licensee, that was my first stop, and my old associates led me to Diamond, who agreed to expand their line to include our figures.
After Trek, Apes and our Night of the Living Dead figures, where we put out a bunch of figures that sold well and resulted in some nice participation for the Abramses, they realized that we were for real.
Then one day Marty called Mattel.
That's pretty much the story. Hope that clarifies things.Comment
