I just hope the gloves are part of the arms and don't come off...and that the bottom (fist) area is plastic like all the other characters. I hope Penguin and Solomon Grundy are done the same way then to be consistent. -
Wanted to bump this...maybe it'll settle once and for all if/that DARKY is
gonna have some padding-type aspects... but he ain't an all-out plush toy
now... is he? The proto-figure certainly don't look all that cushy to moi.Leave a comment:

I have a huge collection of DC and Marvel Megos custom made byY'know, that's an excellent point...they're ALL 8" tall no matter what...as much as it sounds like I'm stating the obvious -- given that we are talking about TOYS here, and not world events or curing cancer -- but a little willing suspension of disbelief is in order when it comes to these guys to begin with, yes?
multiple customizers...if they are not on 8 inch bodies it's only cause
I fought tooth & nail w/the customizer and "lost the battle" so to speak...
My stance in this is that I essentially want figures that resemble
choices that Mego made...and to me that means using an inch body
whenever possible...even on characters that are obviously out of scale.
This line is "win some/lose some" with it's audience because obviously you
can't please everybody....well, when it comes to the decision on padding out
an 8 inch figure for DARKSEID, it's total "win" for me I'm pleased to say.

My first thought when I saw Darkseid was how easy it will be to give him a little height just by adjusting his boots; thanks for the anecdote!Leave a comment:

That brings up an interesting anecdote. When we were putting the prototypes together, the feet wouldn't go all the way into the boots because they were hard resin prototypes. As a result, the guy was at least half an inch taller than the other figures. It did indeed look good, but as it wouldn't have properly represented final production, and would have created all kind of false expectations, we found a way to get his feet in there. I don't remember if Paul softened the resin or if poor Darkseid is in that display case without any feet at all.Leave a comment:

Agreed on the 'suspension of disbelief'.
One way I cheat the heights a bit in my display is to pull the boots down just a fraction, to give a little more height where needed (Superman, in my case).Leave a comment:

Yeah, it's kind of a sickness really. We can't leave anything alone...we have mess with it.

actually no, it's on a matt-go body with a padded suit. he is indeed the same height as the other characters, and none of us can do anything about that. That's because the prototype is on a Hulk body. The production figure will be on a regular body which will at least make it the same height as the other figures.
Of course if you mean he's too short because he should be a foot taller than the other characters, I can't help you there.

The Head, Boots, & Gloves will be a good start for a Custom Darkseid.
