I can see this padded suit idea working for a character like the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man, but Darkseid's physicality is just so solid (he looks like he's practically made of rock after all), that I don't think the plush suit approach would be effective at conveying that.

Take the Super Powers for example... Darkseid is a hefty and imposing figure compared to pretty much everyone one else in that line.

Picking up a Mego Darseid, you don't expect him to be light and soft and squishy.

Not for me...I don't care if it's a GALACTUS fig....8 inches is the height for me.

DARKSEID will be one of the great "Mego never made 'im" releases from this line.

That's because the prototype is on a Hulk body. The production figure will be on a regular body which will at least make it the same height as the other figures.

Of course if you mean he's too short because he should be a foot taller than the other characters, I can't help you there.
Expectation is the death of discovery.

go for it. i already like how some of the guys here are making more hardcore realistic figures using our figures as a starting point. that's why it's called customizing, and not made-to-order.

actually no, it's on a matt-go body with a padded suit. he is indeed the same height as the other characters, and none of us can do anything about that.

Yeah, it's kind of a sickness really. We can't leave anything alone...we have mess with it.

Y'know, that's an excellent point...they're ALL 8" tall no matter what...as much as it sounds like I'm stating the obvious -- given that we are talking about TOYS here, and not world events or curing cancer -- but a little willing suspension of disbelief is in order when it comes to these guys to begin with, yes?

Agreed on the 'suspension of disbelief'.

One way I cheat the heights a bit in my display is to pull the boots down just a fraction, to give a little more height where needed (Superman, in my case).

That brings up an interesting anecdote. When we were putting the prototypes together, the feet wouldn't go all the way into the boots because they were hard resin prototypes. As a result, the guy was at least half an inch taller than the other figures. It did indeed look good, but as it wouldn't have properly represented final production, and would have created all kind of false expectations, we found a way to get his feet in there. I don't remember if Paul softened the resin or if poor Darkseid is in that display case without any feet at all.

My first thought when I saw Darkseid was how easy it will be to give him a little height just by adjusting his boots; thanks for the anecdote!
