    Suggestion for a new line

My daughter and I just finished watching Adam 12 season 1, while watching I thought how great a line of toys based on Adam 12, Dragnet, Emergency etc.... would be.

Would anyone else buy if they produced a line based on 70's Police/Fire shows?

They were all great shows...I loved them as a kid but I think their fan base is very small now.

I'd have to pass. Sounds like a great opportunity for you and your daughter to try your hands at customizing Fun family time with really cool end results!

Yep, love all the Jack Webb shows and think they'd make great figures !!!

Fact --- a lot of modern day Firemen sight Emergency! as the reason they wanted to become Firemen.

I don't think the fan base/sales would be there to justify the cost of the license......

I think the same can be said for "The Big Lebowski" and "The Venture Brothers", yet they've decided to grind out figures from those shows... I don't even think "Lost" was such a great idea, mainly because the show's at it's end... When the show was at it's high point in popularity, I could have seen maybe doing them to cash in on the craze, but now what's the point?

If companies think there's potential fan base/sales with the above mentioned properties, why not ADAM-12, DRAGNET, etc?

From my personal taste, I LOVE the idea and would support it. But I don't believe the market would be there to justify it. Heck, I'm still waiting for them to finish releasing the second season of Swat, which was abbreviated anyway! If a company did decide to do this, I hope they would cover a new Starsky and Hutch figure line as well!

I agree somewhat, but I think all of those BBP properties you mentioned still have more of a cult following than Adam-12, Dragnet, etc.

I for one though would LOVE a set of Sgt. Joe Friday and Bill Gannon figures Plus, it's an easy license, two figures, you're in and out, no need for variants or anything either.

Lost may be a hard sell in the end, but 13 million people watched the finale and it has a worldwide cult following, so it's not exactly a guaranteed fail. I'm sure they wished they could have had the figures out before season's end. Venture Bros may not be popular around here, but it's got a large and active and YOUNG fanbase with disposable income.

People around here overestimate the power of the middle aged 70's pop culture enthusiast.

                    Astronaut Line

How about a line of all the Astronauts? Buzz, Neil, Grissom then even all the shuttle folks. The spacesuits would be cool too.

RTV shows DRAGNET and ADAM-12, so maybe they're picking up a few "new" viewers for those shows the same way Nick at Nite/TV Land used to when they showed those type of shows instead of what they've got on now... I can't say that'd equate to good sales of figures though, but then again the cult followers of the shows BBP is making figures for may not add up to a hill of beans either... In the end though whatever these makers of MEGO type figures end up doing, people here will end up with a lot of custom fodder...

This is very true... Friday and Gannon never wore different outfits except maybe once or twice on the home front...

This is off the topic at hand, but I HATE that they're doing that type of thing... Why they just can't release the complete seasons at one time just p****s me off... They're selling ready made product, it's not like they have to invest anything but the pocket-change it takes to make the DVDs and packaging, yet they're milking it out to squeeze the last cent out of people...

As much as a I like Dragnet and Emergency, I would not buy figures from the shows. I don't even have the vintage Emergency figures.
