No one should have a removeable mask as, if Bats is any indication, they look completely stupid.

Of all the toys I ever saw as a kid, RC Bats was the coolest toy I ever saw. I searched for 20 years to get one and I made several in during those years of searching. It never left me. I agonized for years over that figure. This debunks your theory. I traded a complete Ironman just for a Bruce Wayne head to complete my figure. The fact the mask is removable is THE reason my boys want the Mattel Batman. Otherwise he's just another Batman figure in a sea of thousands to them. It is THE selling point for my boys.
I personally don't think kids care all that much about the alter ego aspect of a character unless of course the alter ego is really important i.e. Clark Kent. Even Bruce Wayne isn't so well known these days IMO. As far as the other characters what other Alter Egos are there really? Outside of fanboys is there enough of a draw to warrant the extra production steps and costs?Comment

I know when I was 9 in 73' and saw that Batman had a removable mask and could become Bruce Wayne, it was the most amazing toy I had ever seen.

I hope NO other character has a removable mask, and that we eventually get a Batman with a sculpted mask. I have great nostalgia for RC Batman, and am glad we're getting him, but I hope it ends there.Comment

Obviously if Mattel can f' up Batman's cowl then there should be a moratorium placed on all removable masksJust say "no"
Think OUTSIDE the Box! For the BEST in Repro & Custom Packaging!Comment

For Batgirl and Catwoman, I hope the cowls are not removeable. I like the approach several customizers have used, with a fully sculpted cowl, and the hair only rooted at the back of it. Although I love my Mego Batgirl, I've always been bugged by her cowl not having the eyeholes included, and the vinyl head having that little domino mask sculpted on.
For the other characters, I'm waiting until I see the Mattel Batman in person.Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?
Check out my customs!

That's my point *when you were a kid in '73* I was referring to kids today. Don't get me wrong i think the removable cowls are also cool but from a modern day stand point I just don't think there is enough mass market appeal for the Alter Ego's, especially if Mattel doesn't come up with suits and accessories for Bruce Wayne or Dick Grayson. I just don't think they (modern kids) have the same connection to the man or woman behind the mask as kids from days gone by. Plus it would really suck to loose the cowl or other removable mask, then you would be left with just another "white dude" figure where a Batman costume.Comment

Point taken.

I missed out on Removable cowls the first time so it's not as important to me. Mego shyed away from it, so I think future figures like Flash, should be molded cowls.
I'd be all for Secret Identity sets though..Places to find PlaidStallions online: https://linktr.ee/Plaidstallions

I know they never seem to work, but the 6 year old in me is screaming for more removable masks! I loved my first RC Bats, and was devestated when I found out Captain America and spidey didnt have them too."Crayons taste like purple!"Comment

I love removable cowls and masks. And I hope we definitely get Robin that way as well as Batgirl and Catwoman. I would also hope DC characters like the Flash, Hawkman, and Hawkgirl can get the removable cowl/helmet treatment.
When I was a kid, I only had the painted mask Batman and Robin, but I never liked their eyeballs showing when they didn't in comics and animation. I didn't even know about the removable cowl and mask versions until I was in my teens and I used to have a book called Greenberg's Guide to Super Hero Toys. It took me many years before I was able to buy them and now have them proudly in my collection. So I definitely want to see more removable mask figures.
Cheers.Comment

I say Batman's mask looks fine, and I'd love to see it on ALL characters who wear a cowl.
Flash first, then the Atom!
FBF: I am also a Greenberg's Guide fan.
the price guide part is out of date, and some of the info is completely wrong, but the pics are the stuff in which childhood toy dreams were made. And partly responsible for why I'm still collecting to this day.Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figuresComment
