I think that was only 1 TRU and because they were damaged

Is this the beginning of the end of the Retro-Action Heroes? One of those lines that suddenly vanish?

it depends on the economy, and the rate of inflation.

This all makes good business sense. As a customer, I don't like seeing prices go up, but I recognize that raising prices is probably the right move for TRU. Why not make a little more $?

It's hard to argue that raising prices is a terrible idea if the product is doing better than expected. Ideally, they'll now have enough margin to put this line on sale, and work it into some of their ad circulars.

The biggest drawback is that dealers are selling these as "used" on Amazon for under 20 bucks. That's not going to help TRU in the long run.

Actually, I think this'll backfire for Mattel. With a raised price less people will buy these, with a lower price more people would buy these

It'll probably kill any chances of Marvel figures being done by Hasbro if the sales go down because of the increased price.

                          Price

They are still 19.99 in my neck of the woods. This thread is kind of ironic coming off the heals of the close-out thread. I just want to know exactly when Wave 2 is coming out, I want to be first in line. I am really excited about the new Batman. When all the mego-like figures coming out I have decided to focus buying DC and Trek new. The Twilight and Monsters I will buy close out.

In reference to what? "High-end collectibles"? Certainly not to what Megos originally retailed for (adjusted for inflation). I'm glad sales have exceeded expectations, but I don't understand the reasoning. Good sales=> higher production numbers=> lower cost. (Or at least the same cost.) Isn't that how it's supposed to work?

I think a lot of us are looking at the short term- we want all four wave 2 figs and spending $80 sorta hurts in our current economy.
Now, there is this stir about TRU raising prices.
Instead of $80, you're probably looking at $100 and that really is gonna hurt.
However, these will be around - don't buy em all in one whack.
I'm only getting two-face and bats early on.

But I am no fans of a price that exceeds $19.99...and it's a little tough affording that....so I'll be price hunting.

Not sure if this is related but maybe the cost of the petroleum supply to make the plastics went up?
Then again all Mattel products should be going up.
