Originally wave 1 would have 6 figures, but pretty soon after that anouncement Stewart was dropped and they went with 5 figures, one being an exclusive
"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan Poe
Hope John Stewart finds his way into the line soon. Maybe as a Matty exclusive?
"It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."
This pic confuses me as it's presented.
This Stewart uses a modified GL production suit... but the gauntlets are kit-bash. Clearly it was made after the figures went to market, so it's not an actual proto. If the maker (who did a fine job on the suit stitching if it's not 'shopped btw) wanted a matty vibe, why not go all in and buy a second Lex to use his gauntlet fabric? Then it would surely look as it would have if produced.
The hands and head appear to be painted vs resin cast in brown. There are enough departure points on the head that I want to say it is not based on either the supes or lex sculpt... but the image quality is so low it's hard to make much out.
It really looks to me like its a Hal suit and hands painted over to look like the JLU Stewart version. Someone popped on a Lex head with some added hair and paint. Definitely a post production custom and not a pre production prototype.
Stewart GL was one of the announced figures early on, but went away without a trace before prototypes were revealed. I'm hoping he'll pop up in a later wave or as an exclusive.
This type of character, like Jon Stewart, is exactly what I don't want to see with this line turn into. There's far, far, far too many more popular and prevalent-in-the-70's DC characters to make to start with two versions of the same character in the very first wave. Kudos to Mattel for skipping Jon Stewart. There's no need for two Green Lanterns in a line that has so many characters to get to as it is. Just my opinion.

I agree that only one GL is needed, but offering this GL would be a good way to get fans of the Recent Bruce Timm Justice League cartoons onboard as fans of the format, since Stewart is the only GL those folks know. I also think he'd make good business sense since there'd be less tooling required to get him made.
But having him at the expense of a completely different, never released figure? Nah, I don't want that either. Have him as another web exclusive, like GL (who probably shouldn't have been a web exclusive).
Ohh so someone took your picture and photoshoped him into this other pic?
It's a good compliment though. He looks like he's a genuine prototype and everyone thought so. Thats cool.
I like John Stewart. Both the Green Lantern and the Daily Show host.
No Photoshop my friend. All those are my figures standing against cards that I turned backwards. I took the picture for my Facebook group.
Yes, it is a good compliment. I don't consider myself a pro like a lot of people and don't expect any praises. When they happen it's nice.
