What IF...you know you gotta look

IF Marvel retro 8" surface, who do you want to see first? Odds are they will go series of six, and you know the first 3 hereoes will be Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Hulk, though Cap may replace HUlk, so what are the ficticious lineups?
    Spidey-Doc Ock
    Hulk-Abomination
    Iron man-Mandiran?

Go ahead folks give them wave 2 since wave 1 is a given

    Captain america-Red Skull
    Thor-Loki
    Wolverine-Magneto

    They would be my guesses

I htink Marvel/Hasbro is going to take a wait and see period before green-lighting a project. Sure there are numerous 8-inch lines due this year, but none are guaranteed even a little success. However, if sales are strong, I really think you'll see them enter the mosh pit.

Marvel will go with their first-stringers right out of the gate, no doubt.

        Spider-Man/Goblin
        Wolverine/Sabretooth
        Captain America
        Iron Man

        Or something like that.

Those aren't necessarily the ones I want, but they'd work for me. I'd prefer a more diverse and visually pleasing line, but I'm selfish.

        Daredevil/Bullseye
        Iron Fist/Luke Cage two pack
        Vision
        Hawkeye

I really don't know that you need a bunch of villains given the fates poor Sinestro and Luthor now share on the pegs. Kids will just have them battle giant robots or dinosaurs. Action Jackson didn't have an arch enemy.

I'd really like to see a Marvel line to counter-balance the Mattel offering and actually have the two companies competing. I think that would being ou the best in their creative teams and bring us a higher quality we come to expect.

Mattel's wave 2 hasn't even hit the shelves, nor any of the other upcoming lines (Lost, Dexter, Universal monsters, ...), so it is waaaaayyyyyyy too soon yet to tell whether this new Mego era will indeed be a succes. Therefor Hasbro won't release any Marvels in this format any time soon

I think they will spread the big names out like Mattel has done with DC's big 3.

Other than that the heroes are selling better than Lex/Sinestro
have reports really been all that "poor" on 'em??? As it is, it seems no
surprise to those "in charge/in the know" that the heroes are selling better.

In a perfect world, IF Hasbro decides to follow Mattel's lead on Retro heroes (and, of course, IF they also do what Mattel did and consult with Dr. Mego on bodies, suits, etc.), I'm assuming three waves per year and each hero would have an arch enemy.

Also, since the idea is to go Retro, I'd assume we'd get classic looks for the characters (no movie or recent looking costumes from the comics... at least not yet, unless the line takes off). Here are my predictions:

                  Wave 1
                  Spider-Man and Green Goblin
                  Wolverine and Sabretooth
                  Iron Man and Mandarin

Reasoning: Spidey, Wolverine, and Iron Man are locks at this point, as they are the freshest Marvel characters in terms of exposure via movies, cartoons, and video games outside of comics at this point in time. The villains are their arch-enemies, of course, but all three of the bad guys have pretty interesting costumes as well. Bonus points would go to the Mandarin if Hasbro could do something re: his rings (glow in the dark paint?). Iron Man would be the classic red and gold armor Mego did originally.

                  Wave Two

                  Captain America and Red Skull
                  Thor and Loki
                  Hulk and Abomination

Reasoning: This wave would pretty much wrap up the current slate of active Marvel movie properties, as well as finish the heavy hitters of the Avengers. A nice bonus would be pack-in figures of Ant-Man and Wasp to any of the Avenger characters, maybe done as 3.75" figures - say throw in Wasp with Thor, or Ant-Man with Iron Man. They could also be Hasbro.com exclusives or mail-away figures, too.

                  Wave Three (X-Men)

                  Cyclops and Magneto
                  Storm and Mystique
                  Colossus and Juggernaut

Reasoning: Hasbro would likely run an X-Men only line of figures at some point, so Wave Three would be where the brand would split. From this point onwards, expect to see TWO figure lines per wave - one X-Men, the other Marvel Superheroes. Two separate lines of Retro Marvel superheroes is one more gooder than one line!

                  Wave Four A (Fantastic Four)

                  Mr. Fantastic and Dr. Doom
                  The Thing and Super Skrull
                  Human Torch and Invisible Woman

Reasoning: The FF would pretty much round up the top three Marvel super-teams, and the villains I chose are the most dynamic in terms of appearance. Since the FF is a small team to begin with, and us collectors would like to have the team in one trip to the store, I opted to lose a villain to increase the likelihood everyone can get an Invisible Woman figure instead of her being shortpacked.

                  Wave Four B (X-Men)

                  Angel and Apocalypse
                  Iceman and Beast
                  Nightcrawler and Jean Grey

Reasoning: Likeliest candidates for the next wave of X-Men. With the exception of Professor X and Shadowcat (who'd show up in Wave Five B), you've got the core group of X-men from most incarnations outside of comics.

                  Wave Five A

                  Daredevil and Bullseye
                  Silver Surfer and Ghost Rider
                  Doctor Strange and Dormammu

Reasoning: Like the FF wave, you'd get an extra hero this time out. This also might be the wave where we start getting vehicles for the figures (can't have Ghost Rider without his motorcycle... it's just not done!). Future waves would see the Punisher, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, etc.

                  Wave 5 B (X-Men)

                  Professor X and Shadowcat (w/Lockheed!)
                  Rogue and Mr. Sinister
                  Cable and ?

Reasoning: OK, I'm not as big of an X-Men fan as I used to be, so I'm running out of ideas here! Even so, we wrap up most of the best known X-Men on the team with this wave. Future waves would see folks like X-23, Psylocke, and maybe Hasbro can figure out a way to get us a Sentinel.
"It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

If I were a betting man, I'd be willing to throw some $ that the Marvel retros come out next summer. It'll be a big tie in with Thor/Captain Am. movies coming out. I wouldn't be shocked to see Thor/andor Captain America in the first wave to capitolize on the movies.

I woulkd completely can any hopes of tons of x men waves, they are not popularly retro enough, and the jean grey would warm the pegs until Cable was supposed to be born. The new hottest characters would have exposure on say Super Hero Squad, or the like. Surfer, Thor, and DR Strange are within the realm of possibility, because they are popular because of super hero squad. Just the facts, the X-men had their heyday in the 90's but don't sell nearly as well to warrant entire waves.
