    Please More EMCE Apes REVISITED!

    Maybe this news will help:

Fox just announced a date for its Planet of the Apes movie, "Rise of the Apes": June 24. 2011. This one will utilize CGI simians from WETA Digital. Rupert Wyatt (“The Escapist”) directs from a screenplay by Amanda Silver & Rick Jaffa ("Eye For An Eye," "The Relic").

    The studio describes the premise:

Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

If Diamond has any sense they will release a double set with Casesar and a Gorilla since this seems like a remake from that movie anyhow...

I'd be really, really surprised if the movie makes that release date. It will almost certainly be later than that.

CGI losses it for me. Even though the Tim Burton Apes movie was not great, the makeup was a great update of the original POTA makeup. They should continue with the makeup.

well wait, are we talking the actor performs the character and they animnate over it ie Gollum and Avatar or are we talking complete CGI like they did in Star Wars? I am always willing to give new ideas a try but this one has me worried

They are doing it with motion capture, like Gollum.

I like your idea of the two pack, but since this new film really isn't a direct tie-in with the original films I don't know if they'd be allowed to do it... Chances are the apes in this new film won't look like the originals so they'd be something else altogether (unless they'd release them as a "cash in on the hype" sort of product)... In the "Works in Progress" thread, I see that a Caesar figure is being made by renegade: Maybe you could get one from him?

If it is anything like Tim Burtons abomination it has a big fail written all over it.

I doubt it would be like Burton's. That there was no follow-up to his movie pretty much tells you that it was a flop.

The only cool thing about Burton's movie was that I got to see it in a theater where Linda Harrison introduced it.

                            Planet of the Apes

The new movie will not be CGI heavy. It is rooted in the future with genetic manipulation resulting in smarter apes. CGI will be used for when the apes unit in large groups, to illustrate an uprising. There will still be people in costumes like Tim Buton's movie. In my opinion Tim's version was crappy. I feel this new take might be a lot better. With all that said, I would really like some new EMCE apes.

It'd be cool if Diamond tried to capitalize on this movie by releasing both another set of reissue apes and reMego apes for the new movie. Assuming it gets made, that is.
