    question about scale and licensing

I know there are different licenses for differing scales in properties. Such as the Hasbro 3 3/4 Star Wars vs. the sublicense to Sideshow for the 12" figures.

Is there a difference in licensing between 8 and 9" figures, or are they lumped together?

Just wondering if there is a scale 'break' so to speak. like 4 inches and under; 4-6 inches, etc. Or is the license issued as to the style of manufacture (mid sized cloth goods) ?

thanks in advance for any insight

Licenses are written as tight or loose as the license holder wants.
Some will give toy, statue, school supplies, etc - that is called a
    master license.

Some licensors have been splitting off formats to different companies
in the hopes of getting more upfront money. Unfortunately it frequently
the customers to pick and choose between products.

      interesting and thanks Doc.

I had always wondered if there was a licensing issue in the 9" hasbro items as well as a design decision. But, given the position that Hasbro has with the hero lines, I would suppose it was definitely a design angle.
