    Boots--plastic vs. vinyl

Maybe Doc can shed some light on Mattel's decision to use rubbery vinyl boots in the Retro line.

I like the plastic vintage-type material, and would have liked to have seen it used, even in new molds.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.

The rubber boots don't bug me, just get rid of the one used for GL and Lex, too big.

The new rubbery boots suck like the Famous Covers boots did. I think the Mego Thor or Teen Titan style boots are what they should strive to have the boots like. Thin rubbery, not bulky, and looked great.

I think the rubbery boots are less inclined to split like Mego boots, probably the reason they decided on those

Hated the Old Mego boots that split if you weren't careful with them. I like the new boots

I believe the reasoning was that the PVC boots would hold up better
than PPE (what the originals were made of). The drawback is that
PVC comes out thicker so the overall look is that of bigger boots.

I like the Mattel PVC boots. I think the larger boot adds to the comic-book feel of the new designs.
                It's all good!

I've switched out the boots on Superman and GL with Doc Mego boots. Much better.

I like the boots on the Mattels. But I do wonder, if they decide to thin up the thighs on the body as they revise it, if the boots will begin to look even bigger. Sort of a Guy Gardner kind of moonboot, I might suppose.

I like the thicker boots myself...they seem sturdier and higher quality than the old plastic Mego boots.

Plus, the chunkiness of them just kinda gives the figures a fun clunky look...I don't know. I can't describe it...I just like 'em.

I like the thinner kind , but when they make impulse and Tim Drake robin these boots will be just right!

^^ I hope they never make modern characters like Drake or Impulse.

The Boots on Retro-Heroes are 1 of the best features of the figures imo.
Not a real big fan of hard plastic on a boot ..., unless it is infact Vintage.
