Why EMCE starts a line and then ends it?

    Many of us start an EMCE line,... once it comes out, with much anticipation we buy them,..and then left us hanging with incomplete sets? For example;
    * Night of the Living Dead - missing two pictured on the card
    * Planet of the Apes - where's Urko, Ursus, Astronaut, etc...
Why arent these sets completed,... at least with the basic characters.
....hope this doesnt happen to the Star Trek line, or any new releases too!

NotLD may not be over, and the Apes decision was Diamond if memory serves.

I think the Apes had to do with the limited scope of the license granted and the high costs associated with obtaining a broader license to do additional figures. If the license was cheaper, I'm sure you would have seen more figures but the cost/benefit ratio just didn't make that work at this time.

I just wish the retailers had gotten behind NoTLD more... I didn't even see them hanging on any pegs locally. I do hope they release the other two figures as well.

Would love to see extensions into the other movies as well, Hare Krishna, Tom Savani and Flyboy (with regular and zombie head!) from Dawn of the Dead, Bub from Day of the Dead.

Given the fact that Avatar Comics made a Black Summer Mego, I'd even love to see the Hippy Biker Zombie from Escape of the Living Dead as a Mego-type figure.

I think the Apes things was because that was all Fox was willing to do.

Doc Mego has said several times the other two NOTLD are still coming, although I thought they were supposed to be out last year.

I thought Doc has said Apes are just on hold for the moment. And I'm guessing the rest of the NOTLD are coming.

If memory serves, EMCEE owns the NOTLD rights now, so I will bank on the others showing.

Shouldn't we appreciate what we are getting?
CTVT produced TONS of figure lines and the quality was questionable and quite varied.
I have a special box in the basement for those figures.
The EMCE releases are much higher quality. I feel proud to display those figures and My Castaway figures right next to my megos.

We are dealing with just another Mego Collector here.
He's gotta foot a lot of the bills for this stuff to get them made.

Sure I'd love complete sets, but whatever he makes I'll buy.
I'll keep buying his releases and supporting what he can get actually made.
I just don't want him to lose his house just so I can get a Talosian in proper costume or anything like that. Once our interest wanes on a toyline, chances are the line is not going to be going places.
                  Cheers,
                  Guyx1

ANYBODY who starts a line that is a collector wants the option to "Collect Them All!"

My buddy is still untrusting on new releases because The ENTERPRISE Bridge playset was never completed.

I am surprised that Doc hasn't come through on Star Trek. More reproductions are needed before the line starts new stuff. He should mix stuff together. I would have liked at least ONE more original , Including Gorn available.

Doc Mego has said many times over he is concentrating first and formost on Mattel. And he should. Theres money thre and nobody with kids has "spare money"!

I could build a Neptuiniam from his shop.

If NOTLD is released then hopefully that smaller body will be made so I can Have TALOS.

It all comes down to what sells and what doesn't. Its not a hobby to EMCE and or Diamond or Mattel for that matter. If any of these lines don't take off, say goodbye to them.

^^^ AMen, nobody wants a crappy repro Gorn, I prefer what we really got from EMCE. A Mego flavored more accurate Gorn.

Apes and Trek were made by EMCE for Diamond. It is not their call on whether the line continues, and when, it's Diamonds. They control the licenses. They also control what the figure selection is and what the final look is. NOTLD I believe is a little different on the licensing side, but is also a much less known line than Trek or Apes. The potential sales market for Trek or Apes I'm sure exceeds the NOTLD market just on overall popularity.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.
